Everton Summer transfers 2021

At this point, bar a few obvious replacements needed, I'm buggered if I know what will fix this much of a mass mess.
A centre mid who can fight for the ball
A right winger/forward who can create and chip in with a few goals
A genuine 20+ goals a season striker
A right back

That would completely change our team dynamic. We looked miles better when we were full strength at the start of the season. Unfortunately, it is rare (especially at Everton) that a team ever goes a full season with few injuries. What we are seeing is just how weak we are when our first team players are out.

Attacking mid that can run with the ball.

I can’t see Richalrison staying long term. Even if we sell DCL and build the team around him he could still leave. DCL seems more likely to stay especially if we build a side to get the best of him.

Thats probaby true. I worry he's becoming a bit of a problem Richarlison. I didn't like his antics at all around that free kick last night. He really can't be pushing Digne, James and Sigurdsson off free kicks.

I do wonder if we need an experieced goal-scorer for a season or 2 ?!?
100% yes. Calvert lewin has done well this season but is not a natural goalscorer. We need someone who buries one-on-ones 9 times out of 10 or who can score goals on the edge of the area.

Without service, Calvert lewin is no more than a target man. We either get a new striker or build a midfield that will create chances every game.

Sadly none of our current players would fetch £50m plus at the moment (DCL/Richarlison possibly on a good day)...........whereas all our nearest competitors have at least one player in the plus £50m bracket.

Leicester- Maddison
Aston Villa- Grealish
WHU - Rice
Spurs-Kane/Son
Obviously, excluding City, RS, Chelsea and Man Utd who all have several players who would fall into that category.

I'm not saying you necessary need 'star' players to be successful (ie Leicester in 2015-16) but I think it's a sad reflection on our general recruitment that, having spent so much, we have ended up with such a mediocre squad. Almost as bad as Arsenal!

If you don't think we should be looking for 50 plus from Richarlison and Calvert Lewin then i wouldn't want you in charge of purse strings. This is in a World were Pepe costs 72m and Tanguy Ndombele 60m. I know they missed chances last night but some of the shouts on ere and personal abuse on twitter is sickening. We give the reds abuse for behaviour like that but some of our supporters are as bad.

If Maddison is worth 50 then DCL & Richarlison definitely are. He’s very overrated IMO

I’d buy Barnes for 50, he’s better than Maddison

Richie has been our standout player since signing, he's a Brazilian International and he's 23. You're paying 50m for the potential alone never mind the fact he's one of the first names in the Brazil squad and he's done it consistently in the Premierleague over the last 4 years. He's not had his best season granted but he's still one of our best players.
As for Dom, again he's scoring goals in the league, country and he's English. Ryan Brewster went for 20 million in the summer.... again for a striker scoring 15+ goals in the league plus the English added tax on the price tag you wouldn't pick up the phone for anything less than 60 million.
Last night was frustrating and they both had massive off nights but fir the most part this season they've been feeding off scraps but still scoring goals.
You also have Digne, a world cup winner who's would make any top side in Europe and Kean will probably be sold for something close to that despite stinking the gaff when he played for us.
Yes we have wasted money over the years and we're paying for it now but i think your wide off the mark to suggest none of our players would fetch 50 million.

I was super bored and looked up the tackling stats for Everton, stat virgin I know , but what I noticed was very peculiar. James who often is maligned for not making defensive contributions only has one less tackle than Davies. A non surprising fact is that although he's been hobbled for half the season Allan has the most tackles. So I think it's crucial to bring in another player that can impose himself defensively on the midfield with tackles and interceptions. I know stats don't always provide an accurate account of the game but I think in this case it's very indicative.

Almost every striker requires some service.

Not sure there's a striker out there (bar maybe Messi and the odd other) who creates 10-20 goals for themselves in a season. Every striker requires service to some degree. 19 in 32 games is a good haul for any player.

If you've got a 20 goal a season striker then you are on the right path. Richarlison has the potential to get 15-20 goals a season regularly. The issue is more goals from the rest of the team and the defensive record. 38 goals conceded is the most out of any team in the Top 10.

The aim this summer should be to add more goals from midfield and aim to be more solid defensively. Tactically we could do some things to help and having James available would improve creativity and goals from midfield (or a 3rd attacker if we class him as that). In addition, it probably requires some defensive reinforcements and or better screening from the midfield. In terms of the midfield, Allan could easily be better next season as he adjusts to a new team and new league. Tom Davies could continue to progress. Also could Gbamin be an asset there.

What I meant is Calvert lewin needs service around the 6 yard box. I think that's why we struggle against the poorer teams. They sit back and stop the wide players from getting the ball in the box. When we do have more success is playing through the middle, but that is where Calvert lewin is weakest. He is not good at one on ones or finishing from the edge of the area. I prefer playing richarlison in those situations.
