Everton Summer transfers 2021

Richarlison is wasted out wide. And even more so in a 442. His biggest weakness is his ball retention. Add into the fact that also Doucoure and Allan can also give the ball away. That for me would be a midfield that wouldn’t function.

I think Richarlison and DCL can play together. Ok last night they both where poor. But with The right players I think it can work. They terrorised Liverpool in that last 20mins after DCL came on. That’s not to say they both need to improve. I wouldn’t go for Ings. Good player but 29 and Southampton would probably want 25mil.

I’d look for another striker who offers something different. Maybe technically brilliant or who can drift and pick the ball up and run at defenders.

I remember when Marco Silva first came in Richarlison started out wide in a 4231 and was fantastic. I think in a 442 he would still offer us something particularly with his work rate.

The problem with the 442 in the PL is most sides now play with a midfield 3 therefore if you dont have wide players who have a high work rate / want to track back the midfield 2 regardless of personnel can be over run.

I prefer 433 but I think Carlo has sacked it off for good and has spoken about his love of the 442. If he sticks with it he simply needs another CF as DCL is limited and Richarlison can be too wasteful.

I think a few unpopular decisions need to be made. Like you I can’t see DCL and Richarlison playing together as both aren’t good enough on the ball and want to do the same thing which is run into the box and finish chances. One needs to be sold, and my view is it’s probably got to be Richarlison. Use the money then to invest strongly in two fast wide players and cover for the three midfield positions.
I don't think we hired Carlo Ancelotti to be "making do" with what we got, so I agree. I think we could see some big sales in the summer to help fund Carlo's overhaul. To be honest, I don't think there's anyone at Everton who we have to hang on to at all costs. Only James is, effectively, irreplaceable - and even he is not on the pitch enough to mean we cannot do without him. Fact is, we often have to.

Richarlison and DCL are good players, but neither is great. Both could potentially bring in very good money to help with an upgrade. Being realistic, Carlo will not be able to tear it all up and start again, nor would he want to, but I'd expect major surgery this summer, including departures of players many thought key to our plans. Carlo has had his year to assess the squad. I very much doubt he is going to allow these mediocrities to drag his reputation down - and I don't think Moshiri brought him here to "improve" us. I think he brought him to win things. And that came with the assurance of investment.

Some of us have been saying all along that the vast majority of our players are just not good enough for sustainable success - and are not of a calibre to benefit from working under Ancelotti. He is demonstrably the best manager of great players in the world. So we will need to start providing him with better players. If we are not going to do that in a serious way, then Carlo is not the right man for the job - or he is here on a low-pressure retirement tour. I very much doubt it's that as he would have better offers elsewhere. But this next window will tell a tale. I expect seismic change because, frankly, I don't think there is another option. Most of these players have been improved about as much as they are going to be. In a big game last night, Richarlison and DCL showed that, when push comes to shove, they cannot be relied on. With Moise Kean and one of these guys out the door, we could be looking at €80m or more to burnish the war chest. We will, no doubt, add to that - but we're going to have to be creative this summer, and that's where Carlo's contacts come in.

'Some of us'? All of us surely. I don't think anybody thinks this squad is good enough to start winning trophies and competing in the CL.

Even then, I don't think there's much about sustainable success. People might have thought we could nick 4th in a 'weird season' as everyone calls this one, but I'm pretty confident in saying nobody would happy going into next season with this squad.
There's far too much general optimism about many of our players. You may know they are not good enough. I may know that too, but plenty think it's the manager and that Andre Gomes is quality.

At least 100 m for Kean and DCL /Ricarlison
I would be looking at 110-120M
Add that to a couple of other sales plus transfer budget and its looking like 200 m
Cannot see it happening although it makes sense

We need a couple of absolutely amazing signings from lower profile leagues or clubs. I always think of Kompany and Zabaleta at City. Cost about 15m for both and went on to be stalwarts and leaders for years.

But nobody (or a statistically irrelevant amount anyway) thinks that this squad is good enough to have sustained success, that's all i'm saying. People might rate Gomes, Keane etc more than I do, but nobody thinks they are the best players around. Thinking players are good enough to have beaten any one of Fulham, Burnley, Palace, Leeds, Newcastle etc at home and thinking they're good enough to establish themselves as the dominant force in the country are not the same thing.

I'm low-balling because of COVID. Either way, this summer will tell us all we need to know. Are we transforming the club or are we limping towards the new stadium? We live in interesting times.

Don't get wanting to sell one of them. They are both good in the box, usually getting a finish in somewhere between em. But they also work their socks off out of possession.
Can't help but think if there had been another 9 on the bench yesterday their sharpness would have been better.
The likes of King shouldn't be in the reckoning. Need an up and comer wanting to breakthrough, one with proper talent.
