I said the other day there are some great players down there and i would be quite happy if we signed 2 or 3 of the better ones, for me someone like Olise at Reading is just a no brainer if that £8m release fee is true. Even if it did'nt work out for some reason we would still be able to move him on as he is only 19 but i actually think he could be that 3rd man in midfield moving between mid and attack.

Realistically the only players we are going to get from Prem teams are the ones they don't want (e.g. Delph). We aren't going to pay over the odds for the star man from any lower prem team and if they are the star man they don't want to come to Everton (e.g. Grealish, Hojberg). we can pick up great players from the Championship (e.g. Godfrey, Doucoure - though both were relegated teams) certainly. Alternatively we can look at players playing in Europe who are either impressing at their club (e.g. Bailey, Digne, Nkounkou) and want to try the Premiere league or are just over the peak and looking for a career reboot/extension (e.g. Allan).
The Championship players if any good generally will cost 20-30M. The Euro players will generally cost 30-40M unless they are in the 'past peak' category in which case it depends on the age/length of contract. Bargains like James can be found there though.
These appear to me to be the rules of the game (although I'd love to hear others), if we potentially this summer need a GK, RB, CM, RMF it would be interesting to hear who people think are the top picks from the above four categories in each position.

Yeah he was, at Newcastle. I was quite impressed with him when he was on loan at Coventry 5/6 years ago but then he seemed to stagnate a bit. It wouldn't be the most exciting signing in the world from what I've seen of him, but you never know how these things will turn out.
37 goals in 2 season is not to be sniffed at.
No it's not, and I definitely don't think he's a bad player. I just can't say that when I've watched him I've necessarily thought 'we should sign him'. He kind of looks a bit like a Vydra/Che Adams/Bobby Reid level player to me, someone who wouldn't be out of their depth in the PL, but wouldn't really pull up any trees either. As I say though, I've been wrong about plenty of players so he might turn into a star.
