Everton Summer transfers 2021

We need to find the NEXT Bissouma, or Kante or Ndidi, or whoever. And we certainly aren’t going to find them if we keep signing cast offs from the top clubs.
Bissouma being well overrated at this point. He's good but even being mentioned with those names is too much. Which means he's exactly the player we will pay 15m too much for.

Missed a lot of games through injury and 3 goals and 4 assists isn't really that good a return, IMO.

Hes head and shoulders above what we have for sure, but I dunno, doesn't seem great.

Seen him have some great games, but others he is a bit headless chicken.
Preach.

People REALLY need to understand that “better than what we have” doesn’t always mean “good enough”.

Looking at (likely) relegated clubs, and given the success of Godfrey and Doucoure, I’d suggest a little sniff around:

Sander Berge
Anguissa
Sam Johnstone

Also, I liked the look of Diangana before he went missing at West Brom. Raw, confidence player we could revive, or as rubbish as he now looks and not worth a sniff?

Also, I keep seeing Okay Yokuslu’s name in the assist column for West Brom. On loan, I think. Any good?

"Success." Man the standard is so damn low.

Anguissa is alright, probably not worth what they'll ask. Johnstone is also fine but it'll be weird when he's better than Pickford but we're still hanging on to "England's #1."

Granted, it’s all relative, but would you not say they’ve been successful transfers?

Godfrey has been good, excellent at times and I’d suggest the measure of Doucoure’s influence can be seen more when he’s been out of the team than in it. The guy won’t single-handedly win us games but he’s the engine and our team doesn’t function as well without him.

If we picked up two more relegated/Champo players in the summer and they had the same effect on our squad as these two I’d be made up.

Obvs an “oven ready” top drawer player or two would be sweet, too.

I think Godfrey is fine enough and hopefully he will get better.

I think Doucoure's influence is overstated because our luck turned when he went out. The performances haven't changed. We played a lot of crap with him too.

Doucoure got in the box, none of our other midfielders do. Not even Sigurdsson does it often these days.

The extra man in the box isn't just an extra option to score a goal. It also creates space for your centre forward. James did it once today and we got in behind. Runs beyond the forward are what create space and chances. It is one of our weakest points. No one wants to stretch the play.

Fine lines, I suppose. I’m of the opinion the Doucoure was the difference in a few tight games we won and now his influence is missed as opposed to our bad luck being coincidental.

Now you say it, I recall your opinion on Godfrey. Each to their own, of course, and he’s defo had his blips but I’d call the signing a success.

The issue is that is pretty close to all he does

I think the difference was that Chelsea, Arsenal and Wolves all hit the post
