Doucoure got in the box, none of our other midfielders do. Not even Sigurdsson does it often these days.

The extra man in the box isn't just an extra option to score a goal. It also creates space for your centre forward. James did it once today and we got in behind. Runs beyond the forward are what create space and chances. It is one of our weakest points. No one wants to stretch the play.

I often wince when people boil down what we need to a single, generic adjective like “passion”, “energy”, etc, but Doucoure’s energy is what makes him stand out in our team. The remarkable levels of lethargy throughout the team kills us and always seems to give the other team a man advantage in the middle.

I’d forego the Allan role for a Doucoure MkII if such a player could be found.

I think there are other ways to generate that though and for me it would be better if our midfielders were the ones passing it forward more often than the ones trying to receive those passes.

Sure would be handy if we had someone dependable like Gana as a squad player to rotate this season. If only he was available on loan at the start of the season... Oh that's right he was, but Brands decided we didn't neeeeeeed him!

Gueye is starting CL quarterfinals for them. He wasn't available on loan.

Clubs that would want him know the price and taking his age { 28 } into account, that's about the top limit. - £30 mill would be the tops. If we could offload some of ours asap, i'd take a punt at £25 mill. DCL with Richy and him either side. { he can play either side } We have signed a lot worse at around that money. But like ive said before, info tells me they would'nt let him come here.

Why wouldn't they let him come here? We're not competing with them in any way, shape or form. Currently, WHU are closer than we are. I don't think for a second that they wouldn't sell their castoffs to us. Again. Not that I'd want him.

True. They probably saw our start and thought it wasn't down to good luck... Big difference in a free keeper and a 30m midfielder though. Especially when we're not even close to them now.

We need a ball carrying midfield player. We need a ball carrying forward. We need a ball carrying right full back. All of them need to have pace and strength.

How many can we get rid of? I thought we were building to something but Brands might have to take a torch to this team this summer.

Keep Gibson, Holgate, Davies, Calvert-Lewin, James, Doucoure, and Allan.

Sell everyone else.

That seems like a strange selection to keep but hey, at this point I'd happily sell anyone for good fee. No one is even close to being irreplaceable in this squad.
