Everton Summer transfers 2021

I don’t expect an offer to come in for him. Think he’ll be a City player in a few years time. The rest genuinely not arsed if an offer comes in for them.

Looking forward to a year down the line when he is still getting caught out of position or ball watching and we want him out also

Without any sales, it's extremely hard to forecast a transfer budget that won't be too dissimilar to what we spent last summer, which was £60m. In fairness to Brands, I think he made £60m travel quite a long way (on paper) last summer given that it is normal to see that kind of money sunk on one player these days.

Having said that, we see now that if you can't keep your players fit it doesn't matter how good your manager is or how highly we may rate some of our players. As preposterous as this is, Tom Davies is currently a more valuable player for Everton than Allan because Davies is always fit and it seems like Allan never is. We have to address why a huge amount of our players keep breaking down.

Another point is that we need to identify a clear way that we want to try and play moving forwards, and actually sign players to fit that model. I truly do believe that the eyesore that we are seeing at the moment is a temporary tactic from Carlo who doesn't believe the players he has available to him can do any better. We aren't going to be playing wide-open, free-flowing football anytime soon, even our best players like DcL, Richy, Doucoure and Allan aren't good enough on the ball to make that happen. I think Carlo has his mind set on putting together a team with strong physical attributes so I'm hoping that we bring in lots of pace and power in the summer to give him the tools that he needs.

Paqueta at Lyon.

Watched him play quite a few times and always has a good game. Highly industrious and quite physical, but real quality when in the final third and with a bit of flair too.

Cheers

I think the contracts expiring will help us in the summer. Walcott, Bolasie, Besic and Pennington going saves us approx £250k p/w alone. I doubt we’ll take up the option to sign either Olsen or King which being conservative is another £80k p/w.

Fully expect Kean, Bernard, and Kenny to leave which should raise approx £50m, giving us some room to play with. Hopefully Delph and Tosun join them but it’ll be harder to shift them. Might be another loan for both till their contracts expire.

The above gives us plenty to play with, but I don’t think for one second we actually care much about FFP. Expect we’d also snap anyone’s hand off if there’s a half decent offer for Gomes or Iwobi as that’d help us out even more.

Needs to bring in at least 6 new starting players for next season. Not plug a couple of gaps with an attacking MF, or RB. He needs at least 6. Players like Sigurdsson, Davies, Coleman, Gomes, Keane, DCL, Iwobi, should not be in the starting 11.
We need a new RB. I'd keep Coleman as back up but like Baines before him, he needs to drop to the bench. It's long overdue
Harsh on DCL. I don't have a problem with him starting games. He's getting better and when we play to his strengths he score goals - yes Palace was poor but he's been feeding off scraps most the season and is still just shy of 20 goals. Not sure we're going to get a better unless we spend serious money. That said, we do need competition for him, someone to put pressure on him, not simply back up.
Gylfi, Gomes and Iwobi should be sold - they're not good enough. Iwobi is awful, Gomes hasn't been the same player since the injury sadly and Gylfi's legs went years ago. He's spent.
Davies makes the bench at best but lets be honest, would any team above us - bar maybe West Ham have Tom in their squad? If we;re being ruthless he'd be out the door this summer.
I'd sell Keane in a heartbeat. I just don't think he can get any better and he's one of the few players we wouldn't miss who has some sort of sell on value. He falls into the same camp as Pickford for me. Can go several games and look really good, look like they've turned a corner and then they switch off for a second and we're punished. And sadly, like Pickford that one mistake normally leads to more in quick succession.

These are who survive the summer for me – Bold being potential starters
GK: Pickford, Viginia
RB: Coleman
LB: Digne, Nkounkou
CB: Godfrey, Mina, Holgate
CM: Allan, Doucoure, Gbamin (because we can’t sell the kid), Davies.
LW: Richarlison
RW: James
CF: DCL

It’s scary how short we are. In a perfect world we'd replace Pickford but i can't see that happening. We need a starting RB, maybe 2 attacking CM who can travel with the ball and drive the team forward (hate to make the comparison but a Barkley type). A right winger, a left winger and a striker. Pace is key in all those positions. It's be interesting to see how Nkounkou progresses. He may be sent out on loan. Maybe Simms comes back and offers backup to Dom, he's doing well at Blackpool but personally I'd like to see him out on loan maybe at championship level. The game time seems to be doing him good.
Massive summer ahead, no two ways about it. we don't need just numbers, we need first team quality.

Urgent:
RB
CM x2
RM / RW
LM / LW

Desirable if possible:
Upgrade keeper
Upgrade CB

Only Godfrey, Digne, Allan, Doucoure, Rodriguez, Richarlison and DCL have convinced as starting-standard players.

Coleman, Holgate, Nkounkou, Davies can stay as squad members. If he's on reasonable wages then Gbamin can stay too.

Anyone else over 25 should be sold.

GK: Pickford / Virginia
LB: Digne / Nkounkou
CB: Godfrey / Holgate / Branthwaite
RB: Coleman
CM: Gbamin / Davies / Allan / Doucoure / Onyango
LF: Gordon
CF: Richarlison / DCL
RF: James

I think that the ideal group of 17 players to move forward with next season

Olsen (contract expired)
Kenny £5mil
Mina £23mil
Keane £25mil
Gomes £12.5mil
Sigurdsson £12.5mil
Delph (Free)
Iwobi £15mil
Bernard £5mil
Tosun (Injured then nominal fee)
King (contract expired)
Kean £45mil

£143mil in fees

Add in £50mil and we'd have £200mil in budget + huge amount of wages available.

In reality of course we'll be lucky to shift 7 of the 12 players...

We do need to try and push a mass exodus this summer though and bring in 4 starting players and 2 or 3 players with potential.

Just some players who can run with the ball for heavens sake.
it's mental to think that a team that currently sits 8th in the so called toughest league in the world and was until about 4 weeks ago well in the mix for top 4 has done so without a player who can pick the ball up and run 15 yards with it without tripping over his own feet or turning back and passing to a defender.

Suppose I'll have to resort to a Zatty list too then.

Expiring June 2021

Olsen - personally I think he's been great and giving Pickford some competition.
Walcott - no comment
Bolasie - no comment
Pennington - no comment
King - no comment

Expiring June 2022

James - 1 year option so unless he hates it here (probably does) it's 2023.
Sigurdsson - MLS might be an option, won't loan as another team won't cover wages. Staying
Bernard - MLS or Saudi, won't loan as another team won't cover wages. Staying
Coleman - Won't leave of his own volition. Staying.
JJK - Nominal fee.
Tosun - Crocked won't be able to shift.
Delph - Crocked won't be able to shift.
Baningime - Nominal fee.

The dead list.

Gbamin - A lost cause won't be able to shift.
Iwobi - No one is going to buy him.
Davies - Maybe a few £m from someone, Southampton? Burnley?
Gomes - maybe someone in Spain or Italy £20m at most?
Moise Kean - Personally I'd like to keep him.

The 'if an offer comes in take it list'.

Pickford
Keane
Holgate

I think the one thing we are probably sure of is that our signings will not have been mentioned here .

Although there some on here who seem to be systematically naming every player in just about every European league.

We need to find the NEXT Bissouma, or Kante or Ndidi, or whoever. And we certainly aren’t going to find them if we keep signing cast offs from the top clubs.

Tbf we tried that and signed players like Toshun, Slowmes and Kean.

If you want the best you have to pay for it - Utd signed Bruno Fernandes and haven't looked back.

If FFP is scaled back and we get that USM naming rights deal on the new ground + good money from selling Kean, Bernard, Kenny etc no reason why we shouldn't be going out bringing in players like Bissouma, Danny Ings, Bailey, Koulibaly even if it costs us £35-40 million per player in the process.

Cm we have a massive problem davies gomes sig all so slow we have to be looking for a player similar to bissouma who can carry the ball forward and has pace. This team needs 5 atleast gk if olsen leaves, rb cm rm cf. even looking at the cb could see why we would be after Koulibaly, thought keane was poor again and holgate must improve.
