Everton Summer transfers 2021

Coutinho sounds exactly like somebody we would buy!
- past his best
- injury prone
- excessive wages
- ridiculous fee

Sounds like our standard Everton retirement signing for the summer.

Most of the stories also claim he's being lined up as a Rodriguez replacement, which doesn't jive with Rodriguez contract talks.

My guess is that Barca or the agent are trying to get Bayern to cough up the full Barca valuation, which is going to be hard if the Bavarians want him.

Ill be honest, I dont think theres much chance we sign Bissouma, or whether we have even been linked. Its more of a wish list.

It looks like Brands wants to bring in a younger player. He looked closely at Caecido who unfortunately went to Brighton (and as yet I'm not sure if hes had a kick for them).

At the moment the well known young ones are Camavinga, Gravenberch and Bellingham.

Sarr is only just emerging and seems to be very highly rated with his manager saying hes like Rakitic. Fee ranging from £13mil to £27mil in the media.

Seems like hes played DM CM and AM which supports his initial youtube videos of being an all rounder.

Just the type perhaps to come in and learn from Allan while also having different strengths to build upon.

If were looking at Allan and Doucoure as the first choice two then Gbamin to come back with Davies supporting then it mskes sense to go for a player of similar age to Onyango.

Id like to see us bring in two players like this in the centre for the long term and morph away from Sigurdsson / Gomes types and rather than the Coutinho links focus on u21 athletic high potential all rounders.

The key will be the game time as we saw with Kean. I think we could easily add in two players into the centre and they'd get substantial minutes on the pitch.

Ankle ligament damage is never good.
"Onyango will have surgery next week after sustaining a significant ankle fracture and ligament injury in Everton Under-18s' 1-0 FA Youth Cup victory over Manchester City on Saturday."..
Club are never that clear on injuries, could be just a break (how bad?) Break with ligament damage (again how bad). Think it's very optimistic to think he'll be in contention any time soon. But then again could be a simple break that needed minimum intervention...

Ill be honest, I think the 3 above names would be out of our reach unless we made the CL. The view may well be, from a price perspective they also don't represent a value play anymore.

If we sold one of Keane -Mina -Holgate and could upgrade to Koubailly for 10-15m net would you see the sense in that
Yes, if we upgraded the other positions first. Our problem this season hasnt been our CBs, in fact the third best defensive record in the league is only 5 less goals allowed. Im pretty sure Pickford has allowed at least 5 that shouldnt have gone in. Thats not even getting into the midfield being heavily injured and giving less cover.

I certainly think should the opportunity arise to upgrade the position you should, but I think first priority is fixing the areas around it, as I think we currently have a top 5 CB core in the league, and what they have done with the likes of Davies and Gomes protecting them from the front and Pickford in back is pretty good. If you swap our our GK you give up a few less goals, throw in a more dominant offensive side that keeps the ball more and you give up even fewer goals. The other team cant score when they dont have the ball.

Thats why my #1 priority over past seasons has been upgrading the midfield, as I think the central midfield is the most important spot on the field, control the game and everyone elses job gets a little easier.
