I don't think that is correct. DCL has suffered from a complete lack of service in games more or less since Christmas. The last 2 paragraphs could equally be applied to DCL.
I hate Rooney's ugly little pie head as much as the next person, but him and Lukaku aren't comparable. In which over the years he was a bang average player to all those other than a select few fans who either always back the yoof regardless of their performances or do the super bloo routine and claim they always knew he would go from 4 goals a season to 19.
He scored 14 last season - many of those in an 8 week or so patch.
He's on 14 currently in the league - again many of those in an 8 week or so patch.
Thats not an elite forward in my eyes. He's become a good player but thats about it.
Football fans over rate their own players always have done always will.
Since 2000 we've had 2 irreplaceable players in terms of what they offer:
Rooney & Lukaku
I wouldnt lose sleep if we sold any of our squad for £80-90 million providing the club sorted out its recruitment.
Sure. I think Abraham is a decent player as well. I wouldn't mind Everton having him just not at the price Chelsea want.Fair enough, but suerely TA must also be improving on the same basis
One had a real manager running the club and the other had a bus driver?I hate Rooney's ugly little pie head as much as the next person, but him and Lukaku aren't comparable.
There's a reason why one became United's record goal-scorer, while the other was ran off to a backwater league.
One was a truly world-class forward, capable of performing at the very highest level. One had a real manager running the club and the other had a bus driver?
Rom getting blamed for United being bad is one of the dumber takes of recent yearsOne was a truly world-class forward, capable of performing at the very highest level.
To be fair to the other, he's possibly the greatest can-crusher to ever play the game. I don't think there's anyone else I'd want in my team if I was up against Bournemouth or Sheffield United at Goodison.
He can stay home if we're away at Anfield, though.

At the risk of opening a massive can of worms... 14 goals in 4 seasons against the big/top/sky/super 6 really isn't anywhere near as bad a record as people like to make out. He wasn't as prolific against the best as he was against fodder obviously, but it's a decent record in its own right. On the one hand, we could really, really have used a can-crusher this season.
On the other hand, keeping the can-crusher happy when you tell him, "Sorry, we're playing against a real team, so you have to sit this one out" might be a problem.
Oh, he definitely had his uses. Him barging past the Nathan Bakers and Ciaran Clarks of the league was genuinely something to behold. On the one hand, we could really, really have used a can-crusher this season.

It was more the general performances for me. You're not going to get anything against the top sides if the ball doesn't stick up top.At the risk of opening a massive can of worms... 14 goals in 4 seasons against the big/top/sky/super 6 really isn't anywhere near as bad a record as people like to make out. Yeah that's fair. Watching him now his touch, hold up play etc is just so much better than it used to be. When Belgium played England he gave an absolute masterclass in centre forward play. I honestly don't think we coached him at all (or Stones, or Barkley, or Deulofeu). It was the Martinez way, just tell them how good they are and let them get on with it. Seems like Conte has actually worked on his weaknesses and he's got better at stuff. Can't see it catching on.Oh, he definitely had his uses. I will preface this post with the fact that I have no wish to sell DCL and replace him with Abraham.
However I have to take issue with your proposition that if Abraham is worth £40 million then DCL must be worth £140 million.
To be frank you seem to have the same blind spot here that you had a few weeks ago when you put forward the ludicrous proposition that DCL was a better goalscorer than Harry Kane.
Here are the facts .
In Premier League games DCL has 141 appearances with 43 sub appearances. He has scored 38 goals and provided 9 assists. His goals per match ratio is .27 . He has had 253 shots with an accuracy of 43%. "Big chances missed " 45.
In premier league games Abrahams has 88 appearances with 34 subs. He has scored 26 goals and provided 5 assists. His goals per matio ratio is .30 . He has had 164 shots with an accuracy of 41%. "Big chances missed " 30.
Neither of them has scored penalties.
Based on those records there is very little between them. However I prefer DCL as he has better work rate and is a better team player IMO.
However to suggest that DCL is 3 times the player that Abrahams is is just bonkers.
In a lot less games.
You’re struggling to understand how this works.
