2 or 3 players short of a top 4?

We are miles off, unless we go get 5 or 6 quality players then we're 10th again next season.
Thinking that then, 2/3 players off the top 4 mean 8/9 players of ours that get into theirs and looking at least seasons top 4. You’ve maybe got a case for at most 4/5 players getting into any of there’s. Let’s face it City can put a better 2nd team out then our first so there’s one of the 4 gone.

I accept that’s our position but and I think even if we start to buy very well with most transfers we do it’s going to take 2/3 years to get that point and that’s even if they don’t push on. You’ve got to imagine some of them will at least then Arsenal probably won’t stand still after the Super League fiasco. They might actually spend. Leicester are already leaps and bounds ahead of us in terms of quality of starting 11. Spurs could go either way if they lose Kane. They’ve consistently been better then us for a good few years now. Who knows we might get lucky. It’s going to take spending well for a few years to catch up to them to be a threat in my eyes. Some of those signings might not be big money but just well bought younger players but the gap on quality has showed. We’ve won some big games and that’s positive for me. But the home form has highlighted the lack of quality in ability to break teams down, put games away and ultimately goals mean points

Ruben Neves available for £35m, obviously he’s probably gonna end up at a team playing in Europe but I think a 3 man midfield of him, Allan and Doucoure would be great. Would add goals from midfield which we’ve lacked immensely and is still very young.

We’d probably end up going for Danny Drinkwater or bringing Barkley back instead though.
I do think that if the plan is to persist with Doucoure and Allan as two of three, there needs to be an effort made to bring someone in who can take the ball off the defence and switch play with one pass.

Neves fits the profile, but he's been underwhelming for a while now (I think Moutinho was the real star of that team before his legs finally went), so I'd say he's overpriced at £35m.

Whereas I don't believe we are nearly good enough for CL , the fact remains we spent nearly all last season on the edges of qualifications .

When you think of some of the games we lost at home you realise we were actually quite close.
