Everton Summer transfers 2021

Again, this window, like the past 4/5 windows have been about selling (not loaning ffs) players. We do have one premium sellable asset in Kean - if we can get 45mil and then reinvest that into something like Dike and a RW for 20 mil each that that’s good business. Celik will probably be around 15/20 mil which would be sound. Then it all depends on if we can move a few bodies. I’m worried at the fact we’re looking at CB options...that feels like the area we’re the most stocked in. If we sell Holgate then sure, absolutely, find a replacement but it can’t be the priority?? This will be a crucial window as ever, I’m sick of buying overrated prem players for premium fees/wages, every other club is capable of finding good players abroad for a snip - why has our scouting system gone from elite to awful?

I disagree about it being about selling. While we do still have a load of underperforming players to shift, a lot are coming to the end of their contracts and we have just gone through a full season in which we had two keepers in the bench and quite a few times didn't even have a full bench.

We need significant investment this window. I'd say 3-4 first team players, 2-3 squad players and 2-3 young player (by that I mean of the Ben Godfrey ilk - around 10-20mil each).

If we can't do that, the next season is just another transition season.

I doubt we’ll be signing anyone at all until a few more players are out the door. Not because we don’t have the money to spend but more our wages to turnover ratio is ridiculously high.

walcott 5.2 million
Bolassie 3.9 million
King 2.3 million
Besic 2 million
Olssen 1 million
Penington 1 million

already about to leave is 15 mill off the books with only a backup goalkeeper needed to replace any of them. Then have the following garbage that add absolutely nothing to the team.

Bernard 6 million
Delph 4.2 million
iwobi 2.6 million

players that look like they’re likely going to leave.

Mina 6 million
Kean 2.6 million
Kenny 800k

if posssible get rid of either Gomes or sig ideally Gomes as his value would be higher and he offers even less than sig does whilst on higher wages, Which would be another 5.8 million. That’s well over 40 million in wages gone getting rid of the above players and maybe bringing in 60-70 million.

New rb rotating with or putting Coleman on the bench, new cb replacing Mina, new backup goalkeeper, couple of players that can play lw, rw or backup forward if needed and a couple of players to play cdm, cm or cam positions and we’ll be far better off than last season, with a better starting 11, better bench and the wages won’t have increased in ratio to our turnover.

I just hope we are more cautious with contract lengths and wages so we aren't ever in this position again.

I don't think we're uncautious with contract lengths, it's just a lot of the players we sign turn out to be duds so need rid of them quicker than expected

Yeah a mixture of COVID and Man City bloodying their noses has put an end to the current anti competitive system - I remember reading UEFA may also start making economic sanctions on clubs that break the rules rather than sporting sanctions i.e. bans on playing in Europe which will likely be to stop future Man City's taking them to court.

I dont trust UEFA to bring something sensible in however at the very minimum I think this current summer will essentially be clubs spending what they want with UEFA looking the other way during the transition period - as you say COVID has hit many leagues hard and even the big super league boys who aint bankrolled need the likes of us and Villa to be throwing money at their squad players.

Personally think if EFC had sense they would chuck a good £150 million at it this summer and go for broke.

I think we will ;)
