I doubt we’ll be signing anyone at all until a few more players are out the door. Not because we don’t have the money to spend but more our wages to turnover ratio is ridiculously high.

walcott 5.2 million
Bolassie 3.9 million
King 2.3 million
Besic 2 million
Olssen 1 million
Penington 1 million

already about to leave is 15 mill off the books with only a backup goalkeeper needed to replace any of them. Then have the following garbage that add absolutely nothing to the team.

Bernard 6 million
Delph 4.2 million
iwobi 2.6 million

players that look like they’re likely going to leave.

Mina 6 million
Kean 2.6 million
Kenny 800k

if posssible get rid of either Gomes or sig ideally Gomes as his value would be higher and he offers even less than sig does whilst on higher wages, Which would be another 5.8 million. That’s well over 40 million in wages gone getting rid of the above players and maybe bringing in 60-70 million.

New rb rotating with or putting Coleman on the bench, new cb replacing Mina, new backup goalkeeper, couple of players that can play lw, rw or backup forward if needed and a couple of players to play cdm, cm or cam positions and we’ll be far better off than last season, with a better starting 11, better bench and the wages won’t have increased in ratio to our turnover.

I created an (admittedly excellent) thread on this theme a while back buddy - fully agree with you. We pay eye-watering sums to players who never even get near the match day squad - and haven't for several seasons. There's no way that is the path to success.

I thought Bank Holiday Brands was on the way to fixing this, then he signed Delph and Iwobi, gave Davies a new deal and is rumoured to be giving Gylfi a new deal too. Insane.

As I said it's the recruitment that's the problem not the contract lengths, not sure how it's even an argument
And again when we sign them we are hoping they are successful. Unfortunately a lot haven't been so we are stuck until their contacts expire ergo shorter contracts being a safer bet. Not sure how it's even an argument.

Absolute Niasse that Dike.

...his physicality, age and ambition would already put him way beyond Niasse in my opinion. He looks like he could have an effective impact off the bench and provide cover.

US footballers tend to be good professionals and raise our profile across the pond. For the figure being bandied about I wouldn’t mind a punt.

Fair enough, under your policy Richarlison is away on a free transfer next month

But ability, which is all that really matters for a striker, is very Niasse.

...i think ‘effectiveness‘ is a key attribute. He doesn’t look technically blessed, but he’s certainly the type who could make things happen on the pitch. Direct, fast & extremely powerful, he’d get defenders out of their comfort zone & offer something different.

Accepting he’s not played at top level, he‘s only 20 and is averaging a goal every 2 games.
