Everton Summer transfers 2021

My feeling is that Wolves are trying to push people out of the door and that perhaps the Chinese investors are slowing up a bit (which is a consistent pattern across the football/investment spectrum). There's a few whispers and it may be partially why Nuno agreed to go. It may also be why Mendes was so keen to get 2 of his men at 2 different clubs. Wolves would still hold a function then, even if they didn't spend hugely but as more of an end destination for certain players.

Neves at £35mil would be a good deal really...as would Neto at £40mil ish once he recovers and shows no ill effects.

Would very much improve our team.

Given our recent injury record, I would be dead against spending anything on Neto until he is back to full fitness and playing every week. That means waiting until the next transfer window at the earliest. Would rather we just go for someone else.

Ive been keen on Neves since he was at Porto.

He'd be great as the anchor provided we had pace/athleticism around and in front of him.

Clever, tactically astute maestro.

Think the rumour was he was available for £35mil. Thats a good price really for someone whose just turned 24.
Neves
Gylfi Gomes

I'd be delighted just to get rid of Bernard, Siggy, Iwobi and a central defender....

Will free up some amount of wages and add better quality. It's imperative we trim the squad I feel if we need to add.

We could agree a deal in principle with Wolves and Neto based on a 3rd party medical prior to Jan -- at a reduced fee.

Would make sense for all...i saw on transfermarkt that hes fit soon...others say october.

Neves
Gylfi Gomes

Neves the Portuguese slug - no thanks we’ve got one already

Neves is top quality...not quick physically but very quick in his head.

If were using Allan, Doucoure, Davies and if Nunes signes then it would make sense.

Without athleticism though...no.

The local ‘ice’ appears to have got stronger

Am I the only one who really does not get the Neves hype? He’s never impressed me when I’ve seen Wolves (I may have watched his ‘bad games’ and not where he’s done well though).
He’s never seemed very athletic or dynamic and every now and again will hit the post with a free kick. And the price quoted seems astronomical for what is a slightly better Gomes
What am I missing with this guy?

Optimistic and probably likely to get rebuffed enquiry into Sven Botman

Where have you seen/ heard that?

Im not comparing the two per se but havent you just also described the negatives of prime Pirlo?

Gomes and Neves are totally different...Neves sits in front of defence picking up the ball and then acts as an anchor who is always available to receive and recycle the ball left/right back/forth.

Id compare Neves to more of a Carrick if were looking at the premier league. Sees the next pass before he gets the ball.

Then with Gomes...hes basically someone who waddles around aimlessly throwing his leg / shoulder barging into people and pays the hollywood ball or sideways pass.

Ok fair, I can see where you’re coming from.
I hate to be the person who pushes aside technique for pure power in midfield but if feels as important as ever to have legs in middle. The prem now is just so fast, I worry if we’re good enough to have a (and I hate the term but it works) quarterback midfielder over pure powerhouses. Pirlo was a legend but the Italian league is traditionally slow and nowadays industrial midfields are the tick. It may be crude but I’d rather have 2 massive brutes who can carry the ball in the middle rather than a technical passer.
