I feel like people are making the wrong argument about Benitez and only saying "so what he said demeaning stuff about us and is a RS legend, get over it". Its like people saying "man, don't go to Papua New Guinea, flights are REALLY expensive to get to and they eat foreigners there" and only focusing on the cost of the flights.

He's a crap manager who plays extremely defensive football, falls out with owners and would be very publicly vocal about when he doesn't get his way. Him being a giant tit of a person is only the proverbial icing on the cake.

Part of me wants the manager and DOF to be on the same page, but I hate when our manager urges us into a bad signing. At least this one would be for the future which we should have invested in instead of doling out so much cash for the likes of Iwobi, Sigurdsson, etc.

We need a foundation and continuity before we invest so heavily in older players.

I'd like to see a clear out, and bring in young enthusiastic players, with a younger enthusiastic manager and try to build something. Give players like Nkounkou a chance, more signings like Godfrey. Feels like only way to generate any excitement or hope for the future

The problem with Benitez is that he's Benitez.

He's going to come in, make some moves, butt heads with Brands over further moves, and be gone in two years.

We're not handing him the keys and he's not happy unless he's driving the bus. You should only be happy with this potential appointment if you're in the 'Marcel Out' camp and you think he can actually make it happen.

He's objectively not a crap manager. Whether he's past it is another debate but he's won something almost everywhere he's gone.
