Everton Supporters Trust Safe Standing Survey

Done. I wasn't originally for this when it was first mooted a few years ago, but that was because I didn't really understand the way it works.

Having read into it more now, and seen footage of Celtic etc on tv I think it would be an excellent addition to the ground. It'll help improve the atmosphere and allow people who prefer to stand the ability to do so without blocking others who don't.

I would hope the club are for this, however I can understand if they show solidarity with the Rs if they were against it if the Hillsborough smilies couldn't support it. However I would hope that it would come down to an individual club's choice.

I'm for it.
However I'm also aware of the law of unintended consequences. A safe standing section will make non standing in seating more strictly enforced. I have a big issue with that because so many grounds are so poorly designed the only way to see action at times is to stand.
I thought the problem (at other grounds, mainly) was fans steadfastly standing fit long periods, as opposed to occasionally rising to get a better view of an incident? It's quite natural to rise from your seat if there's an attack brewing.

It's difficult not to really, isn't it?

Done.

Having experienced rail seating at a recent Blue Jays game at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, it makes a whole lot of sense. The term "safe standing" is very misleading. If Rail Seating is what we're talking about then it makes a lot of sense. I take it this is the sort of thing we're talking about?

Done. Im all for standing up to watch the match and I guess about 80% would agree but there's no chance that it will happen at Everton with kenwright on the board.

No mate that's not the same. Here's an informative BBC report, although I think England would go for a 1:1 seat standing ratio (like Celtic)

Probably because of Hillsborough - but it wasn't standing that killed people at Hillsborough it was volume of people in a confined area - the same thing could happen at grounds now on stairwells etc given the wrong circumstances.

Ah right. I just thought you meant Kenwright would be awkward for no reason.

Why? Personal preference, or some other reason you don't want other fans to be allowed to stand?

Probably is a personal preference but I was around when terracing was in use and I hated it.

I was only young but it used to scare the hell out of me. And it stunk. There would be all kinds of dodgy stuff going on as well. I know the concept is safe standing but its still an extra risk regardless and I dont see any point of it.

I don't understand if given a choice between standing for 2 hours or sitting people would choose to stand. I suppose I would have to try it myself.
