Positives Pickford, negative James???

have you been tooting crack
James has been pretty **** for months now man, either you are talking about someone else or I am watching some other team - which I get the impression quite a bit here - He is great in the attacking third but for the rest of the field he is AWOL.

Ozil springs to mind, unfortunately.

Looking at Arsenal, they have similar issues to our own. Both clubs need huge rebuilding of their squads. We are stuck with so much dross from successive failed managerial appointments that Carlo is trying to operate from a fairly bad hand. I do have concerns that he is picking on occasion to make points (Sig as captain, really?) but if we stick with him and his pedigree then we will make progress. But we need to be realistic, it is likely to be this time next season before we can demand results from Carlo. A league cup now would be amazing however.

Can literally boil it down to:

had a bit of hope because we looked alright and then we reverted back to type.

Nothing different from the past 15 season reviews and will remain the same until we all get bored of it and choose to do something else with our time.

I think our fanbase think our sqaud is better than it is.

Our sqaud is no better than the teams around us.

I disagree with this. If you compare player for player with the likes of leicester or wolves I would say we have a better squad than those. Or at the worst equal.

The difference being they always know exactly how to play and what they have to do. We genuinely look like we dont know what to do half the time.

I think it's clear to see that ancelottis strengths arent winning games where he has to outwit a fellow manager. I think his strengths are getting a team far superior to their opponents to play at their best. Everton arent at that level and that's why they are struggling and will continue to do unless if serious investment is made in the playing staff.

In the mean time maybe it could be an idea for him to take a backward seat and give big Duncan the reigns until the team has world class stars throughout it and then he can do his thing.

I don't see it, player for player wolves are better than us, it's one reason they finish higher than us.

Let's look at wolves best 11 and see how many would get in our team .

Rui Patricio, Conor Coady, wily boly, Leander dendoncker, Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinhio, Adama Traore.

That's 8 of there starting 11 tonight would likely improve our team.

In his defense we've got no round pegs for the holes.. outside the first 11 we are poor to average at best. First 11 is a match for any team take a few out and it goes to pot.
100% mate, when we had our first 11 out at the start of the season we looked great but any change at all and we're shambolic. The players we brought in seemed to hit the ground running but when we're forced to make changes and bring some of those that were here previously into play they're playing even worse football than they were last year (apart from Iwobi).

I think our first 11 isn't as good as we think.

Dodgey Goal keeper, right back that might be finished, dodgey centre backs, suspect midfield.

The Red [Poor language removed], City, United, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Wolves, Leicester all have better first 11 than us.

That's just James. The main reason he wasn't playing for Madrid is that he wasn't putting in a shift in defense, and Zidane doesn't like that in a player.

You really have to build around a player like that, and we don't currently have all of the pieces necessary to make it shine in the starting XI. When we had all of the pieces, we were running rampant and not conceding excessively. Without that support, we routinely get exposed down that flank and have to gimp the attack (and leave openings in defense elsewhere) to compensate for the weakness.

Posted it many times but this sums up Everton:

It’s even when he’s playing for us ffs

However, wolves are currently getting their ass handed to them by the injury ragged scum and are below us in the table

Of those I would take Patricio, neves, and traore. As definite improvements the rest are pretty much like for like quality or worse imo

Started so well....Spirit of the blues Top of the league....

Couple of bad results...Newcastle & Southampton then a slippery slope...

Fine margins...

Need to get some clean sheets badly in the next few games...

We should be playing him as a number 10. It’s not like we have a third midfielder contributing anything.

Played well at the start of the season when we had a fully fit balanced team. Injuries and stupid suspensions have taken us off the rails.

I think the key for the second half of the season will be of course to see if we bring anyone in in January. I can’t see it myself given the financial situation with Covid. Possibly a loan.

A lot will depend if we can get Gbamin fit and up and running. He will be the holding player we have been missing and this will allow us to get the best out of Allan and Dacoure.
