Everton the season so far...

I think the start of the season was great but anyone expecting us to maintain that level over a season was unrealistic. This is still the start of a rebuild project. Going to take a few seasons to get anywhere close to Top 4.

Recent results haven't been great but things in general are going the right way. It was never going to be a linear progression. The schedule of the season makes that progress even harder.

I don't quite understand the downbeat nature of some fans currently. Top 8 and getting 60+ points was always a realistic aim and don't see why that still isn't possible. Current ppg would get us to 59 points over a season.

As fans we all need to dream big and be ambitious. However, if after 4 games you thought this Everton squad could get Top 4 or challenge for the league then more fool you. That was never going to happen. I think aiming for Top 6 is a good stretch goal. The same goal the likes of Leicester and Wolves should have. Both of whom have been better than us for a fair few seasons.

Couldn't be more wrong here imo, you're blaming the best asset we have because you're over hyping the players like the original poster has said our fans do. Who's coming in that's better than Ancelloti? Half of those Wolves and Leicester teams would probably start ahead of our lads. Ask most fans of other clubs who know football and they'll say they don't see us as a European team yet and think 7th or 8th finish at best. Ancelloti has more trophies than our club let him do his job and realise that bad recruitment is why we are where we are. Hiring Ancelloti is the beginning of that being fixed.

Funny that, because a number of top pundits after 4 games this season said we would be up there challenging at the end of the season. They said we were strong in every department. I stick by what I said.

If the manager had our squad doing the basics right and then going from there we would have a higher points total. We look a team who will concede two a game and that's down to the managers setup and focus. So he is at fault for that and his decisions have definitely without doubt cost us points the last few months.

Southampton genuinely look better than Everton now, which is worrying.

With the run of games ahead I cant see where the next win is coming from but to me its black and white, we have about 5 players worth keeping.

We need ANOTHER clean out next summer... and Dom and Rich are going to be poached by CL clubs so Carlo will have his work cut out

Can find you pundits who said Ancelloti was washed up and Everton should go for Moyes instead. Don't see your point there. The issues I see costing us aren't by Ancelloti. I see lots of individual errors too from the players. Anyway I'll just leave this here

Very similiar to Moonhead’s first season.

Very good start....second to City after six games by the middle of September.

Then fell off a cliff and could hardly buy a win until we beat Arsenal in December.

All very depressing right now.

The thing is...

Couple of wins on the bounce then we back up to top six, so there is always hope...

Fine margins, that's why we need to keep clean sheets !

Was Moyes record at United not better than his predecessors?
Stats can flatter to deceive.
