Everton the season so far...

Most agree that Everton need continuity. But what confuses many is the following: The appointment of Ancelotti, a coach who has mostly only coached elite clubs, but who has no experience in building clubs. Klopp has this experience in Mainz and Dortmund. The players who have been brought in. Allen, JR and AD are 30, 29, and 28 years old. Klopp mostly brought in players in the interval 23-26, and who were dominant in their clubs.

Ancelotti is more of a pragmatic coach, and who rarely makes big changes to the team he takes over. Klopp, on the other hand, has a clear philosophy, and it is expected that players will often spend some time being able to adapt. These are just some of the factors that contribute to doubt among supporters and "experts". But doubt is not the same as us wanting him to be fired, but we are skeptical.

Do I see praise for Herr Klipp? Surely not allowed on here, as we all hate him do we not?

He is one of the world's best coaches, and his teams play entertaining football. He is without a doubt very competent. But do I want Liverpool to do well? Of course not. Before, at least, I had the consolation that Liverpool did not do well. Now even that's gone.

It is many years since we had the consolation of Liverpool not doing well. The media's incessant worship of LFC and Herr Klipp turns my normally fair and sporting nature upside down.

The season was always going to be a bit patchy in parts, but we are on an extended run of poor form and poor performances now, and even in the early part of the season our wins were masked by the same underlying problems as before.

I was hoping that the sort of run where we look largely dreadful for 7-10 games was behind us.

If Ancelotti fails to address our defensive issues and returns some compactness and stability to the team, then we'll continue to have problems. The first step in maintaining any level of consistency is being hard to beat. We go a goal down now and its hard to salvage anything but a draw.

We still have such a team of shirkers and stinkers though. Outside of a handful, there is nobody to turn a game for us when we need it. We need to get Doucoure into advanced positions more often, and hope Richy can find his form also. James is due a goal or two again.

The problem is expecting anything from the likes of Siggy and Gomes to turn a game. Nothing there. Nor from Iwobi. Even Bernard looks more likely to score than any of them.

Can find you pundits who said Ancelloti was washed up and Everton should go for Moyes instead. Don't see your point there. The issues I see costing us aren't by Ancelloti. I see lots of individual errors too from the players. Anyway I'll just leave this here

The difference being you could see in Klopps first season the style starting to develop and you got a clear idea of what he was trying to do. This isn't Ancelottis first season, he has half a season prior to this, as well as the benefit of an extended break due to covid to get his ideas across to the players.

Nearly a year into his tenure now and it's still unclear what his philosophy is and how he wants the team to play. With the exception of Calvert Lewin, no players are actually excelling and there are big fitness concerns with the the team. We don't seem to have any edge in tight games and actually seem to be on the wrong end of them too much. So the comparisons can't be made I'm afraid

Who do Everton get better than Ancelloti! Cmon like. I've mates who r United fans who'd take him in a heart beat. Almost all fans can see how much of a great acquisition he was but you've give up on him after a not even a full season under his belt and I'd call the covid break a disruption more than anything else. I'm starting to wonder are you a troll tbh. Who are we getting thats better than Ancelloti?

Like the recent calendar I got, its a misHmash of a season

Positives.

Pickford looks to be back to some resemblance of the goalie he can be and put the media hype past behind him - good to see his vocal side too Vs Burnley
Dom Calvin Lewin undoubtedly the star of the show - where would we be without his goals.

Unfortunately that's about it from me for the positives

Negatives

Formation: All over the place, Carlo doesn't seem to know what side to choose and what formation to use.
Injuries have taken its toll but a manager of his experience cant use that as an excuse for what is by all accounts a decent squad ( on paper anyway)

Rich - An average season so far, some nice assists but he will need to step up

James - Problem with James is he doesn't tackle or cover his defenders so essentially leaving gaping holes - that are getting exploited big time. Its a tricky one but to utilise him you need to take the negatives he provides also

Waste of Locker room: Sigs, Delph, Gomes, Delph Bernard absolutely nothing to offer - so that is 5 players itself that are taking up valuable squad places

Davies: Lets admit it, just not good enough

Iwobi: Probably the same! he has glimpses of quality but for the most part he flatters to deceive

The forgotten men: Gordon, Nkounkou. Kenny - reportedly missing, last known location unknown

The future: The fixtures on the horizon are going to make or brake Everton's season - quite literally as the sole chance of cup success looks to be realistically the League Cup, a bad run and we will be in the bottom half, above or in the relegation places even. A good-ish run and we can stay within touching distance of this 'big 6' thing.

A poor season in my mind so far, the lack of real characters or leaders is apparent. Allan and Doucoure have done as much as we can expect them to do but too many others are passengers

DCL and Rich wont stay at Everton if they continue to dither, no chance - they are off to the CL and big money offers will be put on the table.

I was hoping the team could challenge near the top 4/6 but with injuries the lack of quality in the squad is there for all to see - and injuries WILL happen. Not getting youngsters into the match day squad is puzzling.

Previous Everton managers were sacked due to the half arsed efforts of the players as much as the managers fault itself, Carlo need to be strong and call time on quite a few players if he doesn't want to fall victim to the expectant fans again but having no spectators at Goodison might be a blessing in disguise.
Huh?

Not sure but I think its concerning that Ancelotti said we played well against Leeds and Burnley.

One and two seasons, respectively. This idea that teams like that have some sort of massive headstart on us and we need 3 years to catch up to them is just weird.
I said we should have the same goals as Wolves and Leicester even though they are a few years ahead in their respective developments. I'm sort of discounting that head start they have by saying we should have the same aims this season (i.e. Top 6 as a stretch goal).
