Fair enough mate, bit bizarre for me, but then I think your wrong.

Fair enough. I watch them every single week though as I live up here. He's anonymous and lazy virtually every week. Hides from the ball. Would fit in perfectly with our displays of late.

Really, I have a sneaky suspicion you may have given up hope last season if we'd have signed Alli, Mahrez and Vardy surely the skill is identifying players who have the ability to be next seasons top players, rather then just reading the gossip columns and youtube, who would you go for mate?

Definitely Ihneacho, Pickford & Roberts off your list.

I'm half pissed now tbh so probably not the best time to be posting, apologies if I came across a bit disrespectful.

Genuine interest mate in hearing your option?

Be great to hear people's opinions of players they actually liked the look and rate from watching rather then herding big names from gossip columns and youtube, then going in to a frenzy, wasn't being disrespectful either.

His underlying stats mate are up there with best in the league mate, I rate him highly as a world class talent and Newcastle was an awful fit for him, though thought he wouldn't get game time at Chelsea under Jose.

How do you Lascelles mate?

Wijnaldum certainly has ability, seems to lack heart/confidence. Maybe a move would get something more out of him, but can't say I'd risk it.

Lascelles certainly has a lot more character, will probably develop into a solid player. Can see him being captain in the Championship for them. If it's a Stones replacement then I'd want someone a bit more established.

Byram is a big loss. His decision to snub us doesn't look good for the manager. Never mind.

We need cover/competition at right back. Coleman has been a shadow of what he can be, a mixture of playing through injury and complacency.

Full backs are vital to how Martinez sets up, it's no lesser a position than anywhere else and we need cover and competition for it.

Byram = we have Stones, Oviedo and Galloway who can step across. I fail to see the urgency of getting him in.

A lot said similar when we signed Stones...

We've been looking at Byram for a while, before Coleman's injury.

We need competition at right back.

Eventually we will, but there's more pressing matters elsewhere.

Right back was not as urgent as certain other areas though. I really don't see it as a big loss at all. If the manager is that bothered about it there are a million other Sam Byram's out there.

I said time would tell, it told.

We needed cover at right back. It told, big time - in big games as well.

Even the Liverpool rag picked up on it.

Whether Byran was the answer is up for debate, but Martinez' failure after 3 seasons to bring in anyone to challenge Coleman has been a big mistake.

at least he tried in january, im sure there were other right backs available tho..instead we got niasse..oops

I gave him credit for this when he said we expected to conclude the deal.

Your next point about other right backs is key, it should never have been Byram or no one.

He did the same thing in his first season when he loaned an injured striker.

Lukaku got injured and it hurt our push for 4th.

It wasnt even a lack of funds, if we can afford to spunk 13.5m on Niasse, we could have spent that money 3 years ago on a push for 4th.

Rooney would be a terrible signing. United won't sell him on the cheap. He'd still command a transfer fee of around 30 million, and then you have his astronomical wages to pay on top.

While I don't agree with signing Rooney either, I am certain we have a 25% sell on clause involved so at 30mill we get back £7.5mill??
Realistically Utd won't sell and only a Chinese like offer will see him leave.

I'd like to see Rooney back in a deeper role. Would be great for the likes of Ross and good for the club as a whole. I wouldn't go crazy with wages tho. If we could pick him up for twenty million and pay him about 100k a week, he would pay for himself. I could see him being interested in being a senior figure there at the start of a new Everton era.
