Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Already signs of fees going out of control sadly. That West Ham bid of 31m pounds for Lazarette is crazy, and even that was rejected, clearly in the knowledge that all Premier League clubs will have money to burn this summer and any team is going to squeeze out as much as they can for any transfer.

Lazarette, 40m? Stones, 50m? Lukaku, 60m? Crazy times! 150m on those three!

Messi must be valued at around 5 billion.

We would probably make 5 times the amount back on shirt sales etc and it would raise the global profile of the club. I would take Rooney back however if Mourinho goes to Utd there's not a chance of that happening.

No chance. 5× his cost on selling shirts???

Raise the global profile ???

i was hopeful of him coming home this summer (gut feeling more than anything) but you're right. The chance to work with Jose will be too good for him to turn down.

i see what both are saying to be fair he is one of the biggest names in football definitely in england if we signed him would be a great singing better than anything we have got still and look at likes of lukakus comments "ive always wanted to play with rooney" he wont be the only one

He certainly is not. Copious evidence over the last few seasons to the contrary.
i think if we're going on averages two seasons out of like ten would prove that he is, and those two seasons were a blip. (the manager) even the best players still need regular coaching as a team.

I think we need an entirely new spine for this team.

A new #1 keeper is a must.

MAYBE one of the youngsters can back up Coleman at RB... but youngsters need game time to develop. I would rather see the like of JJK out on loan getting 25 starts in the Championship than getting 15 minutes a month coming off our bench.

Two new CBs: Jags is all but done, and Stones may well be a better long-term bet as a defensive midfielder. RFM is ok but we REALLY miss out not going for Alderweireld last year. He was excellent for Soton and it was a no-brainer at about £10m.

LB: we're set. If anything, we have too many options here. Some will go out on loan.

Defensive midfield: on paper we have enough bodies.... but Barry has got months left at best, Gibson is finished here, McCarthy is looking at a make-or-break season and Besic is still raw. We need at least one new face. Maybe Barkley drops back to be the box-to-box guy (a role Besic can do well too) and McCarthy takes over from Barry in the Makelele role, but then we'd just need a 10 to replace Barkley.

Wide midfield: Mirallas, Del and Lennon stay. Kone, McGeady, Pienaar are done. Niasse..... who knows. Cleverly is not a wide player, simple as. If we could get Sigurdsson from Swansea I'd have him.

10: Barkley and no-one else. Need a signing here.... Yarmolenkon? Yarmolenkoff?

Striker: Would like to see another player here, even if we are staying with 1 up front. Lukaku needs to be kept at almost all cost - don't sell him to a prem team, but if PSG slap £70m then fair enough. If Lukaku goes we have Mirallas who can play as a striker in a pair or a front three, but he can't play the solo role.

Urgent signings / promotions from U21s IMHO:
Keeper
CB
CB or DM (depending on the position Stones is best suited to)
CM
10
Striker

I don't see us buying six "names" though. Maybe three, but not six.

If we can find CBs and DMs at reasonable prices we could buy wisely and make Stones surplus to requirements, allowing us to cash in... doesn't work so easily with strikers though!

Don't get me wrong, he was better before Martinez came along and decided to ignore defending. But prior to that I rated Distin as the better player, for the entirety of his Everton career. Jags has never been good in the air and lacks the leadership qualities needed in a senior CB, let alone a team captain.

If the right player is available to step in a decent price, I would sell Jags this summer. Don't ask me who that player would be though, I haven't got FM running at the moment. It's not Shawcross or Dann though!

Just to go all footy manager for a bit

Need a new starting keeper - rather have one of the better backups in the league in Robles, than one of the weaker starters in him

Right Back - we have arguably 3 young academy lads in Kenny, Connely and Pennington who can all play their, Kenny being my preferred choice, as backup to Coleman whoever we have their will get a decent amount of game time as Coleman is almost a guarantee to miss a couple of 2-4 week spells with injuries, send Connely on loan keep Kenny as backup IMO

CB's - think IF we don't lose anyone then we need to add one good quality cb mate, we have Stones as a nailed on starter IMo with Mori/Jags the other side, addidng a quality one into the mix would see us really strong their, injury crisis hits then we have Pennington and Galloway/Holgate their - one of those probably best sent on loan to get game time ofc

Left Backs - baines and then Garbutt/Galloway/Connely backing him up - keep or flog Oviedo depending if he manages to regain any form of fitness over the summer and get back to how he was pre injury...

Defensive Midfield - Need to add one who can actuially pass a ball - shift Davies up to the main squad mto replace Gibson/Osman etc

Wide Midfield - Need someone who can play on the left naturally - shift IMO Lennon as he is a player who can make an impact for 5-6 ames then fades back to being average at best shift McGeady as well, both seasons with us he did exactly that, Deulofeue and Mirallas the other two options

Attacking Mid - have Tarashaj coming in got Barkley already, add maybe one who can play all across the frint three spots to give us a lot more depth - a quality player a must really

Striker - LIKELY to need to add at least 2 maybe 3, Kone is terrible and should be shot, Naisse we need to get rid of asap, Lukaku i fear will push a move through this summer, and by accoutns we have no one on the verge coming up through the academy, so need two really top striekrs and a third one who is maybe younger with potentially a big upside, IF Lukaku stays then we just need to bring one quality player in their.

Will stop[ the FM style post at that and no point going into names etc as will utterly depend on who the new manager is, will look a whole lot different if its Emery or De Boer or Koeman for example

Barkley will never be a great number 10. Not smart enough. He can only become a true central midfielder if he gets fitter and learns to tackle. I personally think we need to strengthen both positions. If Barkley is good enough then he'll prove it and we'll be deeper.

As for Lukaku and Stones, if they don't want to be here there is no sense prolonging the drama. I know PL clubs will get charged outrageous fees this summer but I still think we can get 2 for 1 atbothpositions, which is just as well given Niasse will be worth buttons.
