What does that have to do with koulibaly or manolas?

You said you disagreed and wanted a battler....how are they not battlers?

So by your logic Koulibaly and Manolas have done more than Godin?

Godin has done more than Koulibaly and Manolas put together...

really it isn't that hard...

@riddick we offer manolas howedes koulibaly tah and mustafi as reasonable more realistic alternatives to possibly one of the top5 most unlikely CB signings ever and top 3 most unlikely in our history.

Responses :

1-- sarcastically saying keep our current players
2-- sarcastically asking what theyve done compared to godin.

I dont think he understands anything written over the last 2 pages.

sigh..

No, I don't want us to go anywhere near Shawcross. Never have.

And do we? We definitely need a long-term replacement for Jags, but really if we get a manager in who can defend (like Koeman can), then we still have two very good defenders in Stones and Jagielka on the books, plus Mori who I think has shown enough in his first season to prove he will be a good defender in the long term.

In the meantime, it may help to get one in, but there's actually no desperate 'need' at all - unless Stones goes - in which case we go out and get a top quality replacement (but even with that money, we wouldn't be getting Godin).

If Stones stays, I think we've got enough considering Koeman is much better at organising a defence, and we also have the likes of Pennington, Browning and Galloway in reserve, not to mention Holgate.

We are 'desperate' for the following, in no particular order:

- A proven quality goalkeeper
- A back up right back
- A playmaker/winger in the Pienaar/Silva mould
- A back up forward
- A primary striker (assuming Lukaku goes)
- A centre mid (though this would depend on the playmaker I mention above)

I would agree with that list of positions that need filling although I think we need a centre mid as replacement for Barry regardless of signing a playmaker /winger. Assuming Lukaku goes ( as I anticipate ) we need 4 first teamers and 2 back ups as signings . It would n't suprise me if Stones went and we had to replace him too , or decided to buy a new centre half anyway ( additional cover/replacement for Jagielka or Stones ).That is a tall order in terms of integration which is why MR Moshiri has gone for Koeman.

Fukin ell mate @Zatara ...will be pooing her kopite knickers after reading this...

Would love some big names here. However, to attract them will be extremely tough, as we will have to pay more for them than even City/United/Chelsea, etc. I think there is no need to overspend that big. However, we do need 6-7 very good proven players and here is who I would like ( I will try to be realistic):
1. Goalkeeper - Butland/Forster/Hart will be unbelievably expensive. No need to splash so much cash for this position, as there are plenty of good and cheeper options. I would go for Jeroen Zoet from PSV. Big lad and only 25.
2. Centre back - Nicolas Nkoulou from Marseille or Jonathan Tah from Leverkusen.
3. Number 10 - I would love to see Isco here, but I as I have said I am trying to be realistic. I would love to see someone like Hakan Chalhanoglu from Leverkusen or Angel Correa from Atletico. The latter will be hard to get but not impossible.
4. Striker - Milik/Jannsen or even Bony. Also that Bacambu from Villareal doesn't look bad (if he is on the cheap, that is). Don't shoot me, but I think that Niasse should be given another chanse too, as I think he had no time to proove his worth in a broken squad.
5. Left winger - I am leaving the realistic mode here. We need a marquee signing as a statement of intent. Ferreirra-Carrasco anyone?
6. Lest I forget - Yarmolenko, of course :)
