I think there will be an upturn in performances and results under Koeman, we will be far better organised and tactically flexible, and much fitter I would expect.
Even without signings there should be a bounce of 2 or 3 league placings but that is hardly what we are looking for.
I thought at the end of the season we needed between 5-7 players to make us competitive this season. There are some glaring gaps in the squad and as a minimum we need a worthy first-choice GK, another CB, DM, and competition for Lukaku. I would add another CB and RB cover, that's another 6 players.
If Tottenham felt the need to add 3? players to a team that looked comfortably better than us last season, not to mention the likes of the Manchester clubs, then we most certainly need to make signings as a priority.
Like most others, I'm hoping that this will be the week. The only way to approach it from my viewpoint is to just try to stay positive, if we can see the gaps then Koeman and Walsh certainly can too.
Personally now I think it will be a stretch to add 5-6 players between now and the closing of the window. Going into the Spurs game I'd settle for 2 signings this week (GK and Midfield) and one the week after with another flurry of activity in deadline week.
Perhaps the appointment of key personnel and getting those appointments right (Koeman, Walsh) has led to a more stringent/patient approach to signing players which I would welcome in the long-term but I don't mind admitting what should in theory have been a far more enjoyable transfer window has had a lot of the fun sucked out of it at this stage for me. Rightly or wrongly, I expected that we would have bagged 2 or 3 signings by now.
