Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Few people shot me down about worrying but we are less than 3 weeks away from playing Spurs, who were in every way a far superior team to us last season, they have strengthen and we haven't, so yeah am a tad worried.

Well we were a mess last season, and unless I'm mistaken, got two draws against Spurs, so I wouldn't be overly stressed at the thought of the current squad facing them with a supposedly more solid gameplan.

I get that mate but rivals have strengthened the team and already have good managers in place.

Don't fret about what others do...

Who are you classing as our rivals, btw?

City, who are bound to be title challengers? Utd, who will most likely be up there? Arsenal?

Ultimately, they aren't really our rivals mate, as I highly doubt we're going to be title candidates just yet.

Chelsea are undergoing quite a re-build, while Liverpool are doing what they always do in singing tons of players for the same position meaning their squad is once again going through 'transition'.

Spurs meanwhile have added primarily squad players, while it remains to be seen what happens with Leicester and West Ham, and Southampton definitely haven't 'strengthened' per-say.

Club expecting some business this week?

http://www.evertonfc.com/news/2016/07/25/shirt-numbers-to-be-confirmed

Everton will confirm squad numbers for the 2016/17 season on 1 August.

With pre-season just three weeks old, changes to the make-up of the squad - and subsequently the players’ numbers - are expected.

Any numbered kit worn by players in training or pre-season matches shouldn’t necessarily be taken as confirmation of their squad number for the 2016/17 Premier League season.

Fans at Everton One and Everton Two have the option of purchasing name and number printing right now, and can return to have their shirt printed at any point this season, with the name and number of their choice.

My concern with the players we currently have is pretty much how many of them would genuinely make the teams above us? considering the gap now between us and the top 8 even, how many would our players walk into?

discounting Leiscter as they are a team made up of players who wouldn't make anyone elses to be fair, makes you wonder how good we actually are squad wise, when 2 years ago we would have all been thinking we had a team capable of making the top 4.

So yeah, the bigger picture has to be we aren't just adding one or two to be competitive, we need 7-8 players in this squad replacing with ready and able players.

Mcgeady / Niasse / Hibbert / Osman / Piennar/ Kone / Mattoni / Robles

We don't really need 7 players mate.

If we got rid of say, 8 players - Howard, Osman, Pienaar, Hibbo (gone), Niasse, Kone, McGeady and Mattioni - just losing the one 'first teamer' (Stones) then if we replaced them with 5 quality players we'd be fine tbh.

We do over the squad. I'm not saying sign 7 x 30 million players, and certainly we have the odd one to bring in already. Tarashaj replaces osman for example. It is just about having a competitive squad, players who make the team and ones who can push them.

Having a few younger players who don't really make the team but are available when needed 5 months down the line. The grand scheme of things was that we didn't actually use that many players last season out of a 25 man squad, hell take the youngsters out when the season was over we probably only used around 15 or 16 at most. Leaves 9 players who essentially could have been avaiable but weren't.
