Everton Transfer Thread 2016

If you look at my posting history and forum discussions with @The Esk.

I have ALWAYS said this is a THREE YEAR project. This summer and massive spending in my view was never going to happen.

It was always going to be a number of signings and Moshiri guaranteeing 1-2 major purchases every year.

Which is what you want.

So I'm fairly relaxed. You build by building strong foundations.

You don't build a house by throwing it together and hoping it stands up.

I'd be happy with three acquisitions this summer (medium to big). Two in Jan.

Then Two or three next summer.

Plus the youth.

So I'm not panicking at all like some on here.

That wont happen, im sorry, I dont see it that way.

The strategy has been clear from the start for me.

We sell Stones, which allows us plenty of wiggle room in the window, we will spunk our load this Summer, all over the place.

We will sign 5 players for big money and fat wages this window, depends on Outs I could see us signing up to 8 players this window personally, not all for big money tho.

It makes no sense not to go all out this window, ZERO sense to waste 12months, we can afford a major splurge, so lets do it now, cashflow and how much we can increase that will determine the future, but for now its all about building a squad capable of competing.

The problem is, as others have said, we arent attractive, we have no European football and we have finished 11th for 2 season, we havent won a pot for 21 years and in the grand scale of football we are a burp.

Hence us finding it difficult to attract the cream, for now.

I hear that, but still, don´t you get the feeling that a lot of the moment that surrounded Everton in the early summer has been wasted? We got the whole league laughing at us again, not pissed off at us for stealing and unsettling their targets/players. I was hoping our image as the runt of the litter would be a thing of the past by now.

Reading different things here and there it seems that Niasse did not mix with the other players, and wanted out i believe.
Can well understand the players not being over the moon with him, seeing someone come in on about £50 grand a week and they cannot kick a ball straight.
On a football level he was about the same as me, but i am 67yrs old and 2 stone over weight.

Mate. Its a balance.

You cannot throw a team together having spent £100 million and then expect them to simply perform. Spurs tried it. Failed. Liverpool have tried it about 26 times. Failed.

Its a balance.

You also need a fluid strategy. You don't put all your eggs in one basket if circumstances are changing around you.

Moshiri is a proper businessman. He knows this.

Seriously. You may think spending massive this summer makes sense. I've always said it might be better to spread it out a little more.

I won't change my mind on this. Since I use these same strategies and fluidity in my own businesses and it works. :coffee:

Relax mate. Have a coffee. Roll the eyes a bit. Be a bit more circumspect.

You'll see it works and we will be successful come the end of the window for it.

I think some have let their personal expectations get FAR FAR too carried away with themselves.

Look at each signing individually.

Then each subsequent one as a bonus.

Remember. This is about the long term as much as the short term.

This point seems to be lost to some on this forum at the minute.

Oh which football club do you run Damo?

Mate. The way things are going I'll be buying into Everton Football Club.

But thats another matter.

Think you need to calm it down as well. Expectations are far far too high.

Its just not sustainable. We want year in year out sustainable growth as a club on all fronts.

Its crazy to expect us to go out and spend £100's of millions in one summer.

Be realistic.

We need to be moving forward and upwards. It needs to be seen to be happening.

That way come next summer we are simply adding onto what has been added this summer.

Long term as well as short.

I must say that the building slowly but surely method is foolproof, absolutely foolproof! The fact that it has got us absolutely nowhere over the past 20 years is irrelevant, as eventual success is guaranteed, absolutely guaranteed!

The way the transfer market is this year we will have to spend big to get the minimum that we need in though. I think we need a GK, CB, CM, LW and CF at least. If they're going yo be decent then we'll need to spend a lot of money.
