Isn't that what you're doing?
you rang?

And the sharks can taste the blood.

What's the rush? This isn't a quick fix to get us challenging the top 4, it's a major rebuilding job. It will be a season or two before we're in a position to make a serious challenge. This season will be one of transition, of getting the team to gel and play Koeman's way. Don't be expecting miracles to happen overnight whether we make 5 signings tomorrow or on the final day of the window. Other teams around us are improving the side they have, we are not - we are rebuilding from the mess left behind by Martinez.

Ok, based on that and the fact that we finished below mid table and other teams above us have spent to try and improve, let's hope we can finish mid table again this year or Koeman pulls a blinder and gets more out of this bunch of players than his predecessor could and over achieves.

Is that where we are going with this?

So you clearly don't believe there is any value in getting them in early to settle in and hit the deck running? I do, I guess that's where we differ.

We have just finished below mid table for 2 seasons running, we do need to improve a bit like!

I guess we will all just hope it comes good in the end.

No, you've completely miss-read my post. Of course it's better to get them in early. However, has it occurred to you that two of our primary targets were at the Euros (one of them in the side that won it), which will have delayed things. We also had a new manager in who wanted to get a chance to fully assess the squad he currently has to work with before sanctioning £30mil moves for players, and even still we went ahead with a move for Witsel while he was at the tournament and that has been in the works and would have been done if not for his reps.

And exactly! You're literally answering your own questions mate.

We've finished 11th for two years running. If we were going for a load of players from Norwich or West Brom or some jarg Spanish side we'd have them in already, but we're going for top class proven international standard players who all ply their trade for massive clubs in their respective leagues and regularly play in the CL, so naturally it is taking longer to get the deals over the line (y'know, since we've been a bit tosh for two years).

Why the obsession with other sides?

Liverpool are doing what they always do every year and trust me bar their keeper nobody they have brought in is going to make them a top four club. In fact, have they signed any players from CL clubs as we are aiming to do? I don't believe so...

Spurs have signed a few players to bolster their squad. That's it so far - no first-teamers.

Leicester have sold their best player and haven't brought in any superstars.

Chelsea have a huge rebuild on their hands under a new manager and have brought in an unproven striker (sure he'll be decent enough but for a load of money) and Kante (who obviously is a good signing). Ironically Conte believed he'd have been able to get more players in by now but it hasn't worked out that way just yet...

Utd have spent big and will spend bigger but so what, we aren't going to be competing with them realistically this season.

City - same as Utd - though they've only so far bought Nolito, an injured Gundogan who is out until 2017 and most likely the defender from us that a lot on here seem to think isn't up to it (hmmm)...

Arsenal - they live in the top 4 but haven't bought anyone of huge significance who is going to drastically improve them.

West Ham - got two wingers in (one on a free one on a loan) who have both been noted for their terrible attitudes and massive egos. Not exactly breaking the bank are they - and they're getting repeatedly pushed back in their 'adventurous bids'

Southampton - done nowt, lost their best two players. Probably be there and there abouts due to the model of the club though.

Stoke - Signed Joe Allen and kept Arnautovic.

Would you say any of that business is outstanding?
