Everton Transfer Thread 2016

The thing I don't get is why Moshiris first transfer activity would be to sell Stones? Surely we would make a decent signing first (like a Sh*t sandwich)

My guess would be balancing the books in terms of the ceiling on our wage bill to comply with FFP - we have to be certain that Stones will be sold for a fee we're happy with before we can commit to a large wage for quality signing. No expert and not ITK, just a wild guess.

Selling Stones first just sends out all the wrong signals.

Everton in "getting it wrong" shocker! :dodgy:
I don't think it does. £50m~ is good business to allow us to increase our wage structure in a way that will vastly improve the team/squad. He's a defender that isn't top drawer at defending which is what we need.

50m is of course too much to turn down, however bringing at least one player in would have looked a bit better PR wise. That has to be pretty undeniable?

Are we a PR company or a football club?

Why does the club need PR with the fans? Record ST sales, buzz around the club with the new manager, the club knows the windows a marathon not a sprint.

Everybodys assuming the sale will happen before we buy anyway.

Selling john stones for 50m and buying some unheard of bloke from Villa isn't going to appease anybody and the buzz will soon disappear if they cannot deliver on and off the pitch.

I'm not shouting doom and gloom, I just think if Stones goes first it looks bad IMO.

And whats gonna happen?

Spurs is already sold out, they have our money, they care little for our appeasement, they are running a football club not a nursery for oversized babies who cant keep hold of their toys.

I still don't get what you mean by "looks bad". To who? And the replacement isn't going to be some nobody for £2M, that isn't going to work in terms of Moshiri's project - for him to succeed, the team has to succeed. For that, it needs investment in quality players and that's what we will get.
