As I said in an earlier post, I hope we don't press the panic button and start buying good premier league players just because we are finding it difficult to attract top flight players. I would prefer us to stay in pursuit of proper talent rather than blow our money on players who are only marginally better than what we have. I don't want to swap 11th place for 8th at the cost of £100,000,000.

Signed a 6 year contract and would have to pay around 40 million. We have missed the boat on this. We now have Walsh who should be able to get us the same quality for around 20 million

Didn't know he'd extended, they paid 13. 30 mil say is a good profit. Perhaps Ronald knows of a release clause? usually a condition of such a speedy extension? Plus Southampton operate a dof, player trading profit structure. Anyway, just thinking aloud as I think koubilay will go Chelsea.
