FWIW I read it as thus on Witsel, carvalho, mata, koubilay: pogba deal unfortunately for our patience is key. Witsel - do juve want him to replace pogba? will Napoli up the offer with the higuain money? other than Liverpool I don't see any teams above us in the league who need him. Carvalho, similar I think most prem teams bar Liverpool are sorted for dms unless matic moves, I think this ones easier to close than Witsel. Mata I reckon we might get him but later in the window. Once pogba is done Jose needs to balance the books and he likes a tight 1st team squad of no more than 25. Koubilay Chelsea bound I reckon unfortunately. My presumption above is bar 6 ish teams in the prem, the big 3 in Spain, big 2 in Germany, juventus and psg we can financially out muscle most teams.
 
All seems a bit of a mess to me....not even the fact that we've weakened the squad. Half the team that finished last season, haven't even played a pre season game. What is wrong with us and pre-season. We are the absolute worst at it.
 

If rumours about his fee only being 21mill are true, I'd live us to bring mustafi back.
Very good in the air despite not being the tallest, and very good technically.
Possibly count as home grown too?

Fun fact. Mustafi used to live in the same building as me on the docks in my batchelor pad days. Jimmy Martin was always in reception waiting for him. Dunno whether he was driving him FF or picking up his dirty clothes though lol

it's not a mess at all.

we've: 1) changed manager. 2) got a DoF in so the complete structure of the club has and still is changing.

A lot of our better players were at the Euros/Copa and have just returned but all have now got minutes under their belt (bar Rom who is set to feature this weekend).

Other players like Baines, Del and Kev have all had full pre-seasons so far and the rest of the players who have so far missed games due to knocks (Barry, McCarthy, Jags) will be introduced soon enough.

And, last but not least, the signings will come.
