err.... they'd won the league the season before and the likes of Fabregas were not exactly 'non-achievable' for a club that size were they?

Had Woodward actually backed Moyes he'd have got his targets in.

I'm hoping for a signing this week. In all honesty if we don't get at least one in then yes I'll be disappointed. But you're already writing the season off two weeks before it has started, and over four weeks until the window shuts.
 
alright lads, sorry for going off topic, but dont know who to ask... My paypal account is frozen at the moment and under investigation (ex gf went on a spending spree)... is there anyway to use a credit card or bank transfer to GOT accounts to pay to become a forum supporter? cheers.

So, they failed to sign Fabregas, ended up signing Fellaini instead, and then experienced their worst season in a lifetime. That was the reality of the situation. It was also three years ago, and yet Everton near enough have the exact same squad to choose from, although we don't even have a goalkeeper anymore, and everyone is now three years older.

Acknowledging that our squad is weaker than it was three years ago is called dealing with reality. You're free to delude yourself into thinking that McCarthy is a great player who will be 'pulling the strings' with his infallible mate Gareth Barry, but the truth is that is a bottom half standard pairing. Our defence is WOEFUL and can't even deal with a cross into the box.

If the signings come then fine, there will finally be some improvement for the first time in three years. But until then, this squad is weak and in a very poor state, and no amount of your delusion is going to change that.

I agree that our squad is weaker pal, we've been through this. I have actually said this weekend - now having watched RK's Everton four times - that I don't think McCarthy will suit the style, and while the players in our defence are individually decent, we lack any organisation and that is a hangover of the Martinez era.

However, making five signings in the next few weeks won't change that. As it stands, our starting XI and squad are capable of making it through the first few games of the campaign and getting results.

I'm not deluded, so please stop calling me that. We need signings, and most likely they will come. The season hasn't started yet but you're acting like we're already half way through.

We'd have all liked to have seen more activity by now, but the presumptions made on this forum (and furthermore, wild theories or conspiracies and impending disaster based on those presumptions) are rather tedious and ridiculous.

IF we fail to make any quality additions before the close of the window, it'll have been a failure, though under RK I still believe this squad will do better than it did under Martinez, which is a fair assessment given he is a better manager...
