Even if we did have a bad run before the reinforcements arrive - what difference does it make? What are your expectations for this season as I think you're underestimating the job Koeman has to do to get us back challenging for the European places

Yes and we seem make the same mistake year after year in this regard.

To win the league, I would agree though. Really at the end of the day, a team's defensive record is more important to finishing in European places.

It seems like our fantasy of suddenly buying £30m players and bringing in some sort of Abramovich style spree is giving way to the reality of squad improvements, and more importantly, system and infrastructure improvements. I think it's great and we should have faith that 1)Koeman isn't that young and therefore will not leave a 6th place club for a long term risky rebuilding project and 2) Moshiri needs ROI if he's a clever businessman. However, I wonder if it's really possible to replicate LCFCs formula with Walsh by buying a few underrated players and transforming a team. Our spine apart from Robles and the talent, apart from Niasse, Kone, Clev,Gibbo, is not that bad! Bring on hungry u21s and maybe if Ron does some coaching more than buying we can see success without expensively assembling a new team!

I think it's a myth though that you need to have a 20+ goal scorer to win in the league. Arsenal haven't had a 20+ goal scorer since 11-12 and they've finished 4th, 4th, 3rd, and 2nd since then.
