Everton Transfer Thread 2016

It'll be us stalling Naismiths move not the other way around.

We're clearly trying to get a replacement 'good to go' before allowing him to leave.
I can see that being the case, but with Norwich, Swansea and Newcastle all rumoured to be interested in Naismith, I could see this being a move by him and his agent to get more money or getting Everton to accept a lower transfer fee for him By him saying "I'm happy to stay here" it puts the ball back in the clubs courts, how much do we want to sell him? How desperate are these teams to sign him?

I'd be amazed if we've offered 3 million.

Like Cleverly last season, I get the feeling this deal is done and dusted between Everton and Byram and we'll quite happily sit and let his contract run down and sign him in the summer before we'll pay anything above and beyond what the development fee would be if we get him out of contract.
If we do that we'll have to pay compensation or whatever it's called because he's only 22. That could end up more expensive than getting a deal with Leeds done, look at Ings for example, him getting called up by England means the RS will have to pay about £8m after they got him on a "free".

Will be gutted if Naismith is dragging his heels

From the players point of view it would make sence to wait until the summer to give his agent time to find the best club for him.

From our point of view our squad is to big and he is the one player worth any money we can afford to get rid of

The Naismith deal was in the public domain before the window opened, and so he obviously had no issue with the move otherwise he'd have squashed it ages ago. We were obviously intent on letting him leave aswell.

This smacks of alternative interest from other clubs putting a spoke in the wheels for Norwich, as there maybe bigger fish interested now his availability is clear cut.

I doubt it's us holding back completion waiting to secure a replacement personally.

Biggest problem here is that the Leeds chairman is a nut job, plus seeing that West Ham and the RS are interested in him now too
