Everton Transfer Thread 2016

He was more than just a scout.

Fair enough but he'd been there a while, just think people are expecting a lot of him and giving him more credit than Ranieri. I hope Walsh proves to be a very good acquisition.
Under Moyes we had arguably some of the best buys in the PL, certainly better than Leicester, Coleman, Lescott, Cahill Stones etc. Didnt guarantee anything tho.

I agree with your overall point by the way. Does my head in when people say Walsh discovered Dogba and Zola.

I think his appointment is about more than just unearthing the next Mahrez or Kante.

We needed to get a winning mentality into the club, Walsh has been involved at Chelsea and Leicester during successful periods for both. If I was Moshiri I'd consider his council on the running of the football operation to be more valuable than any of the current board members.

We were relatively successful under Moyes, by regularly punching above our weight, but the glass ceiling has been lifted and we need to step up as a club.

Not a dig by any means.

But will it turn out all the news Esk passed on earlier in the window will lead to nothing on those fronts? I mean we haven't signed any of them and are buying other players.

Perhaps we couldn't get them and these are the back up, but don't have much hope in any of the other names turning up here. It seems there isn't a single person who actually knows what's going on transfer wise.

I guess that's a good thing, none of these weeks long sagas are going to be boring signings in the end

The numerous false dawns we've already had this summer are one of the contributing factors making people feel so underwhelmed.

I'm confident that if last season people had talked about Williams and Bolasie people would have been to an extent quite content.

The issue now is that they're not the high-profile names that were heralded so early on - expectations are now considerably higher.

Pretty much it.

All the names we were linked with via mainly one source were always going to be high failure deals simply because all we could offer was money. The players we are signing now are more realistic and if they improve us then great, need starting blocks for such an imbalanced squad.

My only thoughts right now is that we did literally wait for stones to be sold which makes me think that the overall spend won't be as high as we expected and I would expect more Gueye and williams signings rather than 30 million pound players just to have a balanced squad.
