Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Unless things go horribly wrong, I just can't see that being the case.
I don't mean he'll be fired after one season just that he'll take all the flak from the fans and media and his reputation will decline.
It's clear from today's conference that he feels the team needs a lot more so why would he accept spending less than half the available budget?

We won't use anything close to the permitted increase in wages allowed by the Stones sale, and you agreed that letting Lukaku go would mean we could sell Niasse at a loss? - why can't we do that anyway mate - be interested to hear why Niasse leaving on a free would severely impact us this season after Stones has been sold?

Lukaku isn't being sold and @The Esk never said he would be.

So pipe down arguing something not said.

Very reasonable question. Next year we can spend what we spent on wages this year plus £7m + increase in revenues next year.

So yes effectively it is wasted and in fact made worse by the inflated revenue figure of this year which would include the profits from both sales. So selling Rom this year is not a good idea in any sense if we want to increase 2017/18 wages on 2016/17.

Selling Rom this year is the worst of all world's. The only positive is that it would permit us to sell Niasse at a loss this year but that's no consolation.

SEE. o_O

while I definitely agree on the striker (tbh I was tossing up between GK/ST) I think the CM depends entirely on how RK wants to play it.

Do I think we need one? Yes.

That doesn't necessarily mean that Koeman sees it as of much a priority now as he did at the start of the window though... We can't be sure and since it's out of our control either way, I'm willing to wait and see how the window pans out as I have been all along.

I think people really were expecting a whole new squad and quick fix. I think we're going to see a gradual progression through the next few windows - hopefully starting with, like I said, another four to five in and a few of the deadwood players shifted
I honestly do think he sees it as a priority, looking at his reactions to the players we already have in there during preseason, he obviously isn't best pleased with some of them.

We have no link between defence and attack, haven't had it for a few seasons tbh

the esk said this in his post mate

you responded to that post 'agree with all of this'

so i asked you a very simple question, why would that be a positive when we can allow Niasse to leave for nothing without it impacting us this season already without selling Lukaku - or do you disagree that we can do so?

which only actually matters if we actually plan to raise our wages by the maximum we can do year in year out to catch those above us, as of right now mate it won't make a blind bit of difference - we are currently allowed to raise our wages by approx 890k per week post the stones sale, how much you think we are going to raise them by?

I'm not defending the board at all???

Why are you even bringing that argument into it?
I just find it surprising. I think people have been looking forward to this window ever since Moshiri has said he was looking to invest in the playing staff and get us to a point of competing and winning trophies. Considering this is his first window it's a bit disappointing. Normally new owners make a statement of intent not just to the football world but the fans too. I don't know. I just find it surprising that you don't think the same.

But you are right and we do have to give him till the end of the window.

But you aren't answering the question. It's demonstrably the case that we had to wait until Stones was sold because it's too much of a coincidence that our signings have all started around now. If we have a lot of money why wait and play hard ball with City? Sometimes you have to lose a battle to win a war.

What's your question? I take it you've read how Witsel, Mata, The Portuguese kid have strung us along possibly. That's not the clubs fault, they just have to keep their heads and keep trying to secure deals and accept that's a product of our recent history. Let's face it the players we've bought weren't dependant on the stones money, the increase in tv money saw to that. The delay is getting the better calibre players to sign on the dotted line and and stand in front of a camera holding our shirt. That will come, mate we in the process of negotiating the construction of a new stadium. We obviously have money. The problem is to an extent till everyone else's tv money is tied up in new players and existing players bumper contracts on the back of new arrivals our new wealth won't be that apparent. Teams don't have to sell anymore, it's not like when City got took over and they could just bully teams I to selling them their better players ala Lesoctt. Even if that's not the case you can't just go from a mid table club with no recent success to a club challenging on all fronts with a world class commercial arm and new home. Perceptions have to change and that's not an instantaneous process
