Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Its not been great, granted.

But we did not sell Stones to fund transfer fees. FWIW, I think the next week or 2 could produce some rabbits out of the hat.

I hope you are right like. But hopefully lessons are learned from this. And we can salvage the window as you suggest we will and then get our tactics sorted for going forward.

In simple terms, stones sale allows us to increase wages from the stcc profit made by roughly 800k ow, if we don't use that or close to it then come next season should we once again go in with the ambition of raising our wages by a huge amount which given it as apparently the boards strategy to do so from the outset would make that scenario a likelihood, it would neccesitate the sale of a player who would net us a huge stcc trading profit next summer, currently only lukaku and Barkley could give us that.

See the concern now?
I understand... well they can sign me on and keep me in reserves and pay me if they like.

Lets realistically compare ourselves to the others. I have excluded Man City, Man Utd and Cheslea because right now we are nowhere near their level.

In a way, its pointless mentioning Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham because at the moment they are a more attractive option than us, so it would have been very difficult to sign their targets.

But of the signings so far, other than those highlighted, I can't think of many that would really improve us.

If and I stress if, Lukaku is sold the we would have to be very busy in the January window.

I stress I do not believe he will be sold, he will sign a new contract.

In a notoiously difficult period to obtain any decent signings mate, and with no Lukaku - a very real possibility of a very poor first half of the season - combined with the difficulty it has been shown we have to get even second tier targets (witsel etc) over the line mate, not a chance on earth, we'd hardly be able to raise it to the level allowed already by a Stones sale mate even if we did a Newcastle like throwing money around from last summer on overpriced dross.

Lukaku left the same window as Stones did, then Moshiri will have 100% made a rod for his own back and played right into the hands of people who said he would asset strip us and be in for the quick buck (which i don't believe he is - but that will be the narritive and once stuck with it good luck shaking that off)

Christ some negative wum's on here, transfers are happening, do you think RK should uncover our next targets just to appease the negatives on here. Time for perspective, lets judge this window when it shuts and then we can rejoice/despair...

Tbh if he sold lukaku and stones in the same window he would be a horrible asset stripper. Kenwright never even pocketed that much.

Not that I see him leaving but still. I like a spade being called a spade.

I'm confused. If the reason was that they all strung us along then why did everything happen once Stones was sold?
What's happened? Bolasie and Kone? You honestly think we couldn't afford those players without selling Stones with the increase in tv money this year? We'd spent 7 million to that point. The saving in wages of Osman and Hibbert saw to that alone there or there abouts. We still haven't signed the players that we all want to see coming in, that's because they're just harder to secure.

Edit, sorry forgot about the 9 million for Williams
