Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Surely it would be impossible? I can't see how we would raise wages by 10s of millions this year in January or otherwise. I'm not sure how we're going to raise them in line with the Stones sale as things are going but to add £70+M (-£28M amortised) to that target would be inconceivable.

We would bring forward our summer 2017 transfer budget/activity to January 2017 as much as we possiby could to utilise the spare capacity in wage growth. I would not expect for a moment to utilise it all.

Honestly I don't know. Why did we wait until Stones was sold? Can you give me a reason.

No I cant but I don't have to. I have faith it will come good over the next few years. To me that's more important then getting wound up over the first few games in what's going to take a long time.

If this all turns out to be pie in the sky fed to us then I suppose we will find out in due course. It's just a bit early in the whole thing to start loosing our heads about it all

With all the talk of STCC, wages, etc.. I think this has been drowned out somewhat.

I might be wrong maybe Arsenal and a few other clubs haved moved into a new stadium with an already good team, and ones who have revamped like wise. But there's also a few who have moved into a new ground and the team has been fit for the bin or they've eventually went west lol

Right which further proves my point that we can't make players sign. Terms were agreed and a fee was agreed. He said thanks, but no thanks. I'm fine where I'm at.
I suspect we could still sign Witsel if we made him an offer he couldn't refuse i.e. an incredibly attractive financial package. Exactly the same way we got RK.
We've been unwilling or unable to do so. We can no longer claim we're unable to do so due to STCC rules so the most obvious explanation is that we can't afford to do so because we don't really have £100m net available.

Yes clearly. @bluestevon please see ^^^

I AGREE with this. Can't you see ?

Mate i get on well with the esk, but it is his opinion and his opinion is not devine, and has been wrong several times - as have many posters opinions on things.

There is something a bit disturbing about a grown man seemingly not able to form his own opinion on things without a constant reference to another poster btw

Just seen the conference in full.

Genuinely, anybody who is getting wound up after that needs to get outside and get some fresh air.

No 'poor' body language, just evidently would rather focus on the football side of things rather than transfers.

On Lukaku, he made it pretty clear the club is doing everything they can to keep him (when asked on a new deal for the player) but obviously didn't say 'he's definitely staying'. Again, nothing untoward.

Can't believe it's cause such turmoil on here, you bad meffs.

BTW - re. how many we're aiming to still get in (and that's with the squad as it stands), he barely even gets the word 'three' out of his mouth before correcting himself to 'four'. Probably as the sentence before he'd said, 'we have signed three players already'.

And none of them make me think wow.... But it does make it harder that the teams we so called compete with have Strengthened more but we still have more of the window to do this. We are playing catch up anyway

Thing is, and another lad mentioned this earlier, our new manager is as good an upgrade, taking into account who he replaced, than any other new one in the league.

Now that aint to say he is better than Jose or Pep et al, just that a Martinez to Koeman trumps an LVG to Jose in terms of league position improvement over a season.

I know that sounds a bit daft, but you get the point.

Lets realistically compare ourselves to the others. I have excluded Man City, Man Utd and Cheslea because right now we are nowhere near their level.

In a way, its pointless mentioning Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham because at the moment they are a more attractive option than us, so it would have been very difficult to sign their targets.

But of the signings so far, other than those highlighted, I can't think of many that would really improve us.

Leicester City -

Would've loved for us to have signed Andre Ayew. Fills the LW and Backup Striker conundrum. Damn West Ham.

yes mate because we will spend loads in January - it is far easier to do business and attract quality players in January - dunno why other teams haven't caught onto that.

BTW - you do realise the 'strengthen in January' has been the line of the club throughout the last minute sales periods of kenwrights era, guess what - come january we pretend we are ok and carry on as normal and don't strengthen - and the money goes up in smoke or down a sofa.

you think we will add 4-5 players in january and use up the rest of the roughly 500-600k allowance on wages we will have available then your an utter barnpot mate (no insult intended)

Mate, I've been arguing with @MoutsGoat and @The Esk for months.

Goat says we will get 8 by the summer. I said: nonsense. Too many that.

Esk said. Big spends incoming. I said: Unrealistic. need to spread it out a bit. Three seasons.

I think as Esk has now implied we will be busy in January 2017 purely because deals couldn't get done (as Koeman said today) despite our attempts and offers.

I'm not saying that we won't spend the dough.

I'm saying it was UNREALISTIC to expect a revolution in one summer.

Over a season and with the additions in January 2017 that are inevitable. 8 signings are certainly feasible.

Maybe even 10.

5 or 6 this summer and 4 or 5 in the winter transfer window.

We would bring forward our summer 2017 transfer budget/activity to January 2017 as much as we possiby could to utilise the spare capacity in wage growth. I would not expect for a moment to utilise it all.

I don't have a clue about numbers and figures Esk btw lol but isn't the Jan Window always harder to get players in than summer? If I'm wrong just Egnore me lol lol

We have twice offered an improved offer to Witsel. I just don't think he wants to come here - his team kept changing their demands

I might be wrong maybe Arsenal and a few other clubs haved moved into a new stadium with an already good team, and ones who have revamped like wise. But there's also a few who have moved into a new ground and the team has been fit for the bin or they've eventually went west lol
You would hope they would look to insulate the team from any expenditure on the stadium but it's hard to know what's going on at the moment.

I do pal lol so I expect to win the league!
