Everton Transfer Thread 2016

I think I've indicated my view, Lukaku will be approaching 90+ goals for Everton by May next year :)
I'm not trying to be a sycophant or usurp The Esk with Eskesque ( I know what i am trying to say) snippets of knowledge, for I do not have any.
Mine is more a 'feeling' that Rom has been told by Moshiri he will achieve things at Everton, and if things don't go to plan, then the 2017 transfer window will be his window of opportunity. Just a feeling.
This means if Rom performs, he will benefit. If Everton do not as a team, then he can move on. Win/Win for Rom maybe, but while Rom's head may seem full of sawdust, his agent's is not. That is the reason that he, his agent, and his trappy dad have taken a back seat.
This is also a massive opportunity for a Win/Win for Everton also.
For years we would have been happy signing Dan Druff from Ayre as our scratch player (arf arf), but at the start of this window the whole Forum had spent the entire mystical £100 mill about thirty seven times over. Each.
It was never going to be like that, but the sale of Stones has been instrumental in propelling our club forward to a situation were we now have the breathing space to negotiate better sponsors to see us through the FFP regulations.
Money freed up WILL bring better players, and Ashley Williams was instrumental in bringing, albeit perhaps only short term, stability on the pitch.
More is needed, more will follow, and keeping Rom is the catalyst. Again, maybe only short term.

Maybe that's what they still plan to do regarding Stones however if the wage bill is annual does that mean anyone signed in January would only count for the 6 months they have increased so in theory it may actually prevent us from signing anyone or actually if they were really expensive (if they earned more than 14m) we would actually be forced to sell someone next summer.

My brain is hurting. Do you understand what I am getting at?

I do but we need to get the increase in spending this year rather than next year. Commercial revenues will increase next year (2017/18) though significantly

They can pay it tho that's the thing Chelsea Liverpool Arsenal United Spurs they are all more " self sustainable than us " and can afford it as they make it until we do then we pay what we can

Which begs the question, what planet are the owners living on if they believed they would be able to raise the clubs budget by around about the 1m mark per week giving the limitations on the maximum wage they had already decided upon.

Why go after Mata who is on anyweher between 15k and 35k more than that currently depending on the source

Can't get deals done in a full Summer and then try to get those deals done in January mate - utter lunacy of a strategy - the most active teams during January are ones in serious danger of relegation and usually in a mess

We will TRY and get them done in the Summer. But be realistic.

Actually thats not correct. The ones trying to get that little bit more - title challengers always try and make a signing in the winter.

Bony signed at Man City January 2015 for £28,000,000

Mohamed Elneny Arsenal January 2016 for £5,000,000
Gabriel Paulista Arsenal January 2015 for £13,500,000

Juan Mata Man United January 2014 for £37,000,000

Juan Guillermo Cuadrado Chelsea February 2015 £26,100,000

etc. etc etc

It's been obvious all along that he wanted to go to Italy. The point is that it appears we haven't yet offered the large wage premium necessary to attract higher level players to a mid table club.
The question is why. STCC is a possible answer but it's looking more likely that the answer is simply that we don't have a £100m net level budget.

And anyone who believed that was solely for transfers, and not an investment in the club overall, was believing sensationalized media unfortunately mate.

I believe we have a very decent sized budget, but not that much (without factoring in the sale of Stones).

Just my opinion but always thought it was more likely an investment in the club. Or maybe we are just finding it hard to pay very good players in their prime to come to a team that is having to 'rebuild' (a project that is likely to take a few seasons)...

Just seen the conference in full.

Genuinely, anybody who is getting wound up after that needs to get outside and get some fresh air.

No 'poor' body language, just evidently would rather focus on the football side of things rather than transfers.

On Lukaku, he made it pretty clear the club is doing everything they can to keep him (when asked on a new deal for the player) but obviously didn't say 'he's definitely staying'. Again, nothing untoward.

Can't believe it's cause such turmoil on here, you bad meffs.

BTW - re. how many we're aiming to still get in (and that's with the squad as it stands), he barely even gets the word 'three' out of his mouth before correcting himself to 'four'. Probably as the sentence before he'd said, 'we have signed three players already'.

He gave what he wanted to give when it come to being asked about transfers, not sure why anybody expected any different.

It's clear to see he wants to get back to the footy and not sit around talking to the media. Positive that for me.

I think part of the problem lies in the fact the club have remained so tight lip about a lot of details. Which of course they have a right to do. People just don't want to go back to the Days of the previous regime when the fans were essentially in the dark because of the faults with those in charge

Part of the problem is people expecting things to be done so quick. Especially in this day and age with Facebook and Twitter, people believe every rumour and cry and cry for details, even if the thing is completely wrong.

The info will only get out when it's good enough to get out. Look at Williams this week, it come out and within a few days it was all wrapped up. To me, that's fine.

He also said he expects the side to be fully ready in 2 weeks in terms of match fitness as well. Totally understandable and about right.

Heads falling off in here for absolutely no reason.
I tell you what, and this is obviously really controversial..

Why not get your team fit for the start of the season eh ?

I mean, your professional sportsmen right ? With coaching staff etc ??

Just an idea like.

Errrrm title challengers signing Mata mate? - that was a United in a utter shambles udner Moyes and was a total panic purchase by him

AShow me any significant team doing well that spent the type of money you are suggesting on 4-5 players on big wages during a winter transfer window? all you've done there is show me 3 signings 1 each window of squad players

Mate... they've been doing 3 training sessions per-day.

Half of the side have had 3 weeks of pre-season due to international duty.

They're going off from a basis of sweet f all in terms of a fitness regime...

If you look at a lot of the other managers, I bet they've been saying similar to what RK said which is 'You don't know how ready you are until a few games in. I'd say at the moment, in terms of physical shape, we are at 70% of what we need to be for the rest of the season. In two to three weeks I expect us to be at 100%. But that is how it is.'

We probably have wage structure limits so we might have offered him what we see as a good offer? We can debate this all day we aren't to know yet!
I thought the point was that we were going to abandon the wage structure and dramatically increase wages.
Now that we don't have to worry about STCC there's nothing to stop us unless of course we don't have a budget as large as was hyped. There's still time to land Witsel and others if we offer them the massive wage packages they demand to come to a mid table side.

Slippery slope offering players ridicuously high wages. It will only fuel angst amongst those that have been here on a certain wage and would have us bent over on future signings.
I think there's a few we wouldn't mind if they asked to be transferred. The ones that are worth it I would have no problem paying what they are worth.
