Everton Transfer Thread 2016

He gave what he wanted to give when it come to being asked about transfers, not sure why anybody expected any different.

It's clear to see he wants to get back to the footy and not sit around talking to the media. Positive that for me.

Part of the problem is people expecting things to be done so quick. Especially in this day and age with Facebook and Twitter, people believe every rumour and cry and cry for details, even if the thing is completely wrong.

The info will only get out when it's good enough to get out. Look at Williams this week, it come out and within a few days it was all wrapped up. To me, that's fine.

think it was Chico who said this earlier, either on here or Twitter, and as bad as we all are (me included) for it, what difference does it actually make to people's lives if they know about a transfer two days before it might happen...

The only people it benefits are the ones in the media/getting into the media.

Don't know how much sleep I've lost this week just writing up rumour pieces.

Also the team will be pretty different to the one that starts on Saturday, so signings are coming for definate

Yep.

I still expect signings and won't be happy if they don't come - and if we get none it at all obviously will be proper concerned.

Just fed up of all the heads falling off.

Do think the situation with Rom has a few twists and turns left in it, but equally I know for certain we won't let him go or bow to any pressure unless the valuation is met.

Trust me mate, I'm in it, I know ;)

Fortunately, I work for a company that can only write 'confirmed' pieces. Obviously we have stuff lined up, but in terms of actual rumours we have another section for that (lucky me)...

Slippery slope offering players ridicuously high wages. It will only fuel angst amongst those that have been here on a certain wage and would have us bent over on future signings.
All true but we were supposed to dramatically increase our wages as part of the plan.
I think some on here are searching for a narrative to reconcile two opposing ideas.
We have a £100m net budget but our signings are not reflecting that. The simple explanation is that we don't have a £100m net budget.

Errrrm title challengers signing Mata mate? - that was a United in a utter shambles udner Moyes and was a total panic purchase by him

AShow me any significant team doing well that spent the type of money you are suggesting on 4-5 players on big wages during a winter transfer window? all you've done there is show me 3 signings 1 each window of squad players

Clubs who WANT to be title challengers don't care when they sign players.

They sign them when they want to and need to.

@MoutsGoat and @The Esk know my views on this very clearly.

I do but we need to get the increase in spending this year rather than next year. Commercial revenues will increase next year (2017/18) though significantly
The problem is that we can't go over and above 14m without relying on commercial revenue and that's assuming we don't increase the wage bill at all next summer. Who knows what the plan is.

As i said mate, show me an instance of the type of January spending you are imagining we will do this winter?

If you believe we will be anywhere near a title challenging position come the january mate your not looking at the team we have

next year it will be 7m allowed increase - any other than that will have to come via other sources mate

The lad I know, Prem side, was back weeks ago. Everything he eats, drinks etc is heavily monitored. He knows exactly what his calorie intake etc is for everything.
The notion that they all go out scoffing burgers and sinking 20 pints for weeks pre season is nonsense.

I see where your coming from, but I'm not having actual fitness as an excuse in this day in age.

Of course they don't - I didn't say they did matey.

My point of 'coming off sweet f all' in terms of fitness wasn't about their holidays, it was about the previous regime.

Koeman, a bit like Moyes, is all about fitness (even more so given the high pressing game he employs). At S'ton he came into a club that already had an equally good basis in that due to Poch. Here he's coming into a side that has been managed by somebody who has openly expressed of not seeing 'fitness' work as key.

It's like trying to get the side up to 100%, but starting off at -15% anyway...

Btw, there'll be few sides who are at anywhere near 100% for this weekend. They're all super fit as it is, but no side is fully up to speed until 2-3 games in. It's match fitness, and pre-season matches don't get that to anywhere near the intensity of the Prem.

Also, speaking of pre-season, interesting to note that Spurs have had 3 games. 2 in Aus, one against Inter. That's it. I don't think Kane even travelled to Australia...

Mate, I have asked you before, and tbf, you reined it in, but the constant tagging of other posters, especially staff members who get generally, a lot, is infuriating to the recipient, unless there is a genuine reason for the said tag.

Esk is far too polite to say so, but pack it in please. @bizzaro

We are relying on commercial revenue either way as it needs to be a bigger contribution to our overall revenue

than it has been historically. This is a regulatory fact.

This means that sponsorship needs to increase massively and probably needs to triple from the 'great' deals that Robert Elstone tried to con Everton fans into thinking was great.

The fact is there is no where for the old board members or management team to hide any more due to regulatory developments in football (FFP and STTC). That requires a lot more financial compliance.

This means that you either perform Robert Elstone or you are replaced. Simple as that.

@The Esk has been talking about this for months and months.

Yea but if we buy in January a player who for simplicity earns 14m a year then this year our wages will have increased by 7m however we will have to pay him the full 14m next year which means they will need to go up by another 7m which is the amount allowed. This means it would prevent us from buying anyone without selling first.

I wonder if this has been thought through because it means we could see a very quiet January not just for us but for everyone.
