Everton Transfer Thread 2016

I think there's a few we wouldn't mind if they asked to be transferred. The ones that are worth it I would have no problem paying what they are worth.

Overpaying in the market is one thing...it's the market and the market dictates fees.

Overpaying drastically on wages is a slippery slope. That could see current players demanding improved deals, and every future signing would be expecting the same.

All true but we were supposed to dramatically increase our wages as part of the plan.
I think some on here are searching for a narrative to reconcile two opposing ideas.
We have a £100m net budget but our signings are not reflecting that. The simple explanation is that we don't have a £100m net budget.

Dramatically improving our wages and ridiculously over paying wages to get a deal over the line is not healthy for the club. Perhaps in the short term it may appear to be that way, but in the long term only force us to do the same on future signings.

That said, there is nothing stopping us from offering a slight improvement on whatever Witsel agreed on (reminder he already agreed to our terms) to push it over the line. But if he accepted 90k/wk and we come back with 125k/wk we'd be stupid to do so IMO.

There is no proof of what you are suggesting...it is only what you are choosing to believe.

*note...I pulled those figures out of the air

Which begs the question, what planet are the owners living on if they believed they would be able to raise the clubs budget by around about the 1m mark per week giving the limitations on the maximum wage they had already decided upon.

Why go after Mata who is on anyweher between 15k and 35k more than that currently depending on the source

Well it's like looking In such a shop knowing you can't buy what your looking for. It's ok to window shop but why go in if you can't buy it lol. I'm not clued up on all the finance side but some things are odd

Of course they don't - I didn't say they did matey.

My point of 'coming off sweet f all' in terms of fitness wasn't about their holidays, it was about the previous regime.

Koeman, a bit like Moyes, is all about fitness (even more so given the high pressing game he employs). At S'ton he came into a club that already had an equally good basis in that due to Poch. Here he's coming into a side that has been managed by somebody who has openly expressed of not seeing 'fitness' work as key.

It's like trying to get the side up to 100%, but starting off at -15% anyway...

Btw, there'll be few sides who are at anywhere near 100% for this weekend. They're all super fit as it is, but no side is fully up to speed until 2-3 games in. It's match fitness, and pre-season matches don't get that to anywhere near the intensity of the Prem.

Also, speaking of pre-season, interesting to note that Spurs have had 3 games. 2 in Aus, one against Inter. That's it. I don't think Kane even travelled to Australia...
If Spurs aren't bang on it, we've touched lucky playing them first up then.

I'd bet good money, no matter what he's said in public, Conte has Chelsea very close to 100% fitness already for example.

If we start badly and are blaming the players involved in the euros being behind schedule, it's poor form in my own opinion.

So don't overpay. Buy some top class youngsters and throw the kind of salaries at them that City and Utd would normally only be able to afford.

That would increase our wage bill and make us more sustainable since more than likely we would probably sell them on for a profit.

Koeman didn't blame anything mate. I don't believe he was lying though he may well be bluffing and feels the squad is fully ready. I doubt it though.

They will be prepared though, but he's being honest. No side can be 'ready' to 100% before a ball has been kicked in anger. It doesn't work like that.

Tried that with Carvalho - hasn't worked.

The evidence of who we are targeting would suggest that we are looking to immediately improve the team with proven players that will see us up the table this season, not young players that would potentially need time to adjust/improve.

Because being linked with quality players for two months and then buying average ones with two weeks left will see everyone happy for 4/5ths of the time before reality kicks in and even after a lot will accept the reasons.

Just going after those you really expected from the start will ser people kick up more fuss.

Human psychology and the way it works mate.

People accepted a stones sale in part due to believing bigger things would be incoming, tell them at the outset that he'll leave to be replaced by a 31yo and bolasie and the reaction would be a lot different.

Well Yearh if we can get in the players we want than like players than are second 3rd calibre it's totally different and looks like we're going places

And anyone who believed that was solely for transfers, and not an investment in the club overall, was believing sensationalized media unfortunately mate.

I believe we have a very decent sized budget, but not that much (without factoring in the sale of Stones).

Just my opinion but always thought it was more likely an investment in the club. Or maybe we are just finding it hard to pay very good players in their prime to come to a team that is having to 'rebuild' (a project that is likely to take a few seasons)...
Thats revisionism. Multiple ITK's, both here and on other forums, made the absolute claim that 'we could buy Messi if we wanted, the £100m is just a rough number, the real number is MUCH higher than that'. So when the question gets asked 'show me proof where someone said this £100m is coming from', its coming from a lot of people that you yourself have said to trust their info on.

and, again, I'm not banging on the 100m mark because Im bored or even care about IT, I care that we start the season in 2 days and are completely unprepared for it.
