Everton Transfer Thread 2016

I get we have over 2 weeks left, but us dragging our feet in the transfer market is to blame for the subpar team we will trot out Saturday.
Whether you spend 100 million or 10 million it just makes so much sense to get all of your business done early so your manager and squad can worry about the upcoming matches not additions/departures.

We haven't been dragging our feet at all. Please, get that out of your head.

We've been in discussions with our high profile targets that we wanted! We were willing to wait to get them over the line if needs be.

The 'sub-par' team we may put out on Saturday has a lot more to do with the last manager than it does the current regime

So, while I was watching GB get the Gold yet again in the track (well done lads), has that King article in the Mail calmed everyone down a bit?

'Rom acting like a total professional. Club determined to keep him'

'Inherited an unfit squad, and six weeks holiday for them was too much'

'Bolasie and Kone likely next week, still looking for a goalkeeper and striker'

I think we'll also see some movement on another player as well, and more depending on outgoings...

Terrified he's no mentioned a centre mid.

Gone very quiet today sadly. Right when we need activity too.

What were you expecting Tim?

Last night it was reported that Bolasie wouldn't be done extremely quickly as the side's were still in discussions over the structure of the deal. It never looked likely to progress today.

Similarly with Kone, Sunderland wanted replacements in first. Talks will still be ongoing.

Mate I get it that your positive whilst I'm grumpy. But there's no evidence of any of these deals being close bar snippets from supposed ITKs who haven't called anything that's actually happenned.

We've not done well here. Its been a debacle.

We thankfully have a top manager who can make the best of the situation. But he needs help and soon.

It was paraphrased by King mate - so it wasn't a direct quote from the man himself.

It has not been a smooth transition from the South Coast to Merseyside but Koeman is starting to settle; the £9million signing of Ashley Williams – who is not fit to face Tottenham – from Swansea has helped, while Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie (£25m) and Sunderland defender Lamine Kone (£18m) are expected to arrive next week.

Koeman still wants another two players – a goalkeeper and a striker – and he has stated his intentions to keep Romelu Lukaku; Everton have opened talks with the Belgium international about extending and improving his contract and made clear they do not welcome Chelsea's interest.

If he doesnt buy a midfielder I want him sacked.

I would hope so but we're crying out for a centre mid, that is painfully obvious for everyone to see.

I'm not being overly positive - I'm frustrated as hell about it but I didn't expect laods better. I thought we'd have one of our main targets by now but we don't. Doesn't mean we won't get them in. And no, we were very close on Witsel and that has been all over the press in two nations - agreed personal terms twice as well as the initial fee with Zenit. Couldn't get much closer without the bloke signing on the dotted line... that's not based on the ITKs, it's the general press consensus.

It's far from a debacle. 2011 was a debacle. God help you if you were/had been on here then, your head may have genuinely popped ;)

The season won't end in August mate. Look at 13/14 - we didn't even have half of our key players until deadline day. I think Osman, Fellaini, Jelavic and Naismith all started the first game...

I'm not saying everything's rosy, and it's a big three weeks now with the season starting and the window still open, but there's no point fretting about things that are out of your control and setting expectations that you'll be mad that aren't met (e.g. 'I think we need a CM'. Most of us do, but Koeman may not be prioritising that area and may be looking to go in a different direction).

I'm just willing to see how the next three weeks play out.

I do think he'll go for a 'central' player at some point. Whether he's switched attention to that being a more advanced player like (just as an example of the type of player) Mata, and the plan is to drop Barkley back, or he goes for somebody (again as an example) who is more of a deeper box-to-box player (possibly more what we need right now) remains to be seen.

I do however think that this is the signing that may well drag on late towards the deadline, and as I've said we'll also see one or two of our midfielders leave in the meantime/at the same time.

How can we be going into the season with only 70% fitness levels? What has the first fixture not been set in stone for months?

How can we be kicking off and have no decent goalkeeper yet again?

Piss poor management.
