No excuses.

Mata
Witsel
Carvalho
Koubialy

Our current targets look less appetising.

Should have pinned one of these or similar down early doors the rest would have followed.

But did we have the money to do it ??????????

Well napolis sporting director confirmed our bid, with his agent confirming we offered more than enough wages wise, so I would suggest yes the money is there

The problem is that trusted sources, who merely suggested that deals were possible or were in fact close to completion, has been take as gospel.

Add to that media speculation and the names such as Mata, Witsel and Carvalho have became expectations rather than simply being possibilities.

Hence the incorrect view that their trust have been broken or the club has somehow fallen back on its supposed promises, which were never there.

Expectations, either intentionally or unintentionally, have been raised and now people are unfortunately falling over themselves in despair.

Is the club helping fuel such expectations like @davek may suggest? Unintentionally yes, but most the blame lays within the fans themselves.

this is my point mate. Yes, the club should have done better so far but I've said all along I'm happy on the fence until Sept 1st.

However, there have been no promises broken, yet people still keep stating that as if it's fact. In fact I posted something on here yesterday that pretty thoroughly shows we have spent.

Quite spectacular really how 2 bottom half finishes and how Everton are now perceived means we're seriously struggling in the transfer market.

Martinezism, El Loco effect, The Martinez Syndrome, call it what you will it's going to be a long building process!

....I also think there's lots of money around, it used to be only a handful of clubs. it's a great time to be a footballer especially one that's in demand.

In my opinion two 11th place finishes means nothing to most players.

Bar the top 5 or 6 we are all in the same boat regardless of if we'd finished 6th or 16th still shouldn't have stopped one massive signing early on to get the ball rolling.

i had high hopes for the season ahead, but if we're going to buy so many africans, we won't be able to make too much of a statement because we'll be losing the core of our team halfway through the season. Ah well.
