Everton Transfer Thread 2016

I swear half of you have zero interest in reasoned arguments or context. In it's extremism it strikes as the type that can't have family around while you watch a game because you yell too much.

In my opinion two 11th place finishes means nothing to most players.

Bar the top 5 or 6 we are all in the same boat regardless of if we'd finished 6th or 16th still shouldn't have stopped one massive signing early on to get the ball rolling.

You're not a top footballer. They have a different opinion - they want to play in the CL.

i had high hopes for the season ahead, but if we're going to buy so many africans, we won't be able to make too much of a statement because we'll be losing the core of our team halfway through the season. Ah well.

AFCOn is from 14th Jan to 5th feb depending on the teams progress, means we will be without a lot of players for the following fixtures

14th Jan City (H)
21st Jan Palace (A)
1st Feb Stoke (A)
4th Jan Bournemouth (H)

and think theirs a cup round or two in that period as well

Quite spectacular really how 2 bottom half finishes and how Everton are now perceived means we're seriously struggling in the transfer market.

Martinezism, El Loco effect, The Martinez Syndrome, call it what you will it's going to be a long building process!

Don't agree with that

Said before, Stoke bagged Bojan, Shaqiri, and Affelay. Newcastle still picked up Sissoko and Wijnaldum.

Outcasts and egos but named players going to undesirable clubs.

I feel the club just can't get deals done the minute we show a bit of money.

Of course they do but CL teams are limited as are squad sizes. I don't have vast knowledge of foreign leagues but surely there must have been a number of players looking to ply there trade in the Premier League that would have been a statement of intent.

And I'll have you know I've been dazzling 5 a side leagues for years. :):)

Doubt we offered even remotely decent wages

I posted elsewhere that players with a high international profile will be reluctant to join a club that has zero European competition this season. They want to be seen worldwide competing in the CL or at least the EL.

Coming 11th last season is not a good starting point to entice this type of player.....regardless if whether or not we can offer significantly high wages.

There is no point in whingeing if these players simply do not want to join.

We need a season or two to recover from the mess RM made and to get into top 4 or 6.

Then we will have the high profile players seeking to join us.

Just chill for the moment.

thought it was a bit earlier than that, but if you think we'l have our big money CB (either kone/valencia guy), gueye, bolasie and bony

that's nearly all our summer business out just as they are properly bedding in. If those are the players we buy of course.

Ridiculous comparisons.

Bojan was a cast off akin to Del. Same with Shaqiri really - who had struggled at Bayern and failed to settle at Inter - he's not set the world alight, as good as he can be. Affelay was 29 and had an awful injury record. Available on a free and had barely played at Barca - had actually been at Olympiakos on loan.

Sissoko was at Toulouse, not exactly a huge club. The only real guaranteed first teamer at their former clubs other than him was Wijnaldum.

We've gone for players - Witsel, Carvalho and Koulibaly - who are integral parts of respective teams and can reasonably demand CL football.

Of the above you named, I don't think any of them could command CL football...

So we're going into the new season with:

  1. No back up for Lukaku
  2. No back up for Coleman
  3. No first choice goalkeeper
  4. A negative net spend despite being led to believe we had over £100m to spend.
  5. Sold John Stones
What a disgrace of a transfer window. Get it sorted out, Everton.

I reckon I've been kind so far about it, and should we somehow manage to win tomorrow I will continue to be.
But if we lose then that will see me tip full over into the annoyed/frustrated side.
