Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Ridiculous comparisons.

Bojan was a cast off akin to Del. Same with Shaqiri really - who had struggled at Bayern and failed to settle at Inter - he's not set the world alight, as good as he can be. Affelay was 29 and had an awful injury record. Available on a free and had barely played at Barca - had actually been at Olympiakos on loan.

Sissoko was at Toulouse, not exactly a huge club. The only real guaranteed first teamer at their former clubs other than him was Wijnaldum.

We've gone for players - Witsel, Carvalho and Koulibaly - who are integral parts of respective teams and can reasonably demand CL football.

Of the above you named, I don't think any of them could command CL football...

The absolute tears when we didn't get Shaqiri were unreal last season and was still at two huge clubs. Bojan was still at Ajax and AC playing champions league.

The point was they were at champions league teams and dropping to an undesirable club like Stoke.

By what you're saying is that we're going for players we have no hope in signing.

Or we don't have the funds to get them over here. Which is my view.

So we're going into the new season with:

  1. No back up for Lukaku
  2. No back up for Coleman
  3. No first choice goalkeeper
  4. A negative net spend despite being led to believe we had over £100m to spend.
  5. Sold John Stones
What a disgrace of a transfer window. Get it sorted out, Everton.

1. Del is now a backup to rom
2. Probably will sign a right back I would imagine
3.Stekelenberg will be first choice
4. Once we sign these two we will be plus 6 million! So we can celebrate that
5. Stones was always leaving sadly. Same as rom is always leaving us in the future.

We got a fee unlike anything we have ever received in our history and the lad has wanted to move for over 12months.

Would you have kept Stones? Against his will?

So was it a fee we couldn't turn down or a mechanism to boost wages? If it was a fee too good to turn down then same old Everton, big clubs sell their players when they want not when someone else forces them to. If it's for wages, then missing out on these players should have at least given us pause. As The Esk has said on numerous occasions it's use it or lose it under STCC rules. So if we don't use it we have to sell someone else next year (if we have anyone worth buying left to sell, if Lukaku also goes this year then it would be Ross or Del, or both).

As to your question, I would have kept him against his will until it made total sense for the club to sell him. It might all work out but even if it does we will already be two maybe three games into the season. Remember, we have one fit centre half and no fit centre forwards for the visit of Spurs. That is a balls up in anyone's book and was exacerbated by Stones' departure.

God, those answers are depressing. Hardly a bright new dawn, is it?

We sold him when we wanted, Chelsea tried to bully us last year, we sold him on our terms 12months later and got a vastly better fee, the same as big clubs like United did when they sold Ronaldo.

Deulofeu can't play striker. He has been an awful finisher since he played at the youth levels in Spain. He's an excellent winger, but we can't rely on him to score goals.

Stekelenburg is first choice since everyone else is trash. Koeman did not even trust him as Southampton, so I would argue he's not even an upgrade on Howard.
