Everton Transfer Thread 2016

starting to look like we are throwing bids around and come deadline day we just give up and ring up sunderland, norwich, newcastle, and any other team below is in the league last season.

I mean seriously, if kone arrives that is another player from a crap team whilst we bid on champions league players!

can anybody else see the pattern? Bid on messi, sign heskey.

London Evening Standard are saying Brahimi has rejected us too.

That would not be a huge surprise even considering the source.

I thought at the outset of the summer that continental Europe would be our most productive market for signings, we may still attract players like Lucas Perez and others under the radar but well-known to Walsh, but it certainly seems we are encountering much difficulty with more established players.

Look at Liverpool, not much by way of marquee names there this summer and they should find it far easier than us.

I can understand why we have bought domestically for this and other reasons more and more as the summer progresses. Players like Bolasie and Williams have had constant exposure to Everton and know and understand our heritage/culture, and ambitions - the same cannot be said for Witsel, Ghezzal etc.

As long as we have addressed the lack of cover in some areas, for me that's another 5 signings, but would settle for 3 or 4, then regardless of their cost, profile, reputation, selling club, etc. I'll be happy come a week on Wednesday.

I'm naturally a bit panicky around this time of the season as I just want the best for us, but have no qualms at all with the efforts being made by the club. I'm as certain as I can be as an outsider that no signing has failed to materialise due to a lack of effort/ambition, and you can't ask for more than that other than to keep working for the next 8 days.

....I suppose the main concern about this is we are working our way down a list so I presume those who come in won't be our first or even second choices.
This is what I'm saying. It's indicative that these targets don't yet see us as viable; they haven't seen the ambition that we obviously are beginning to have as a club. That's disconcerting and frustrating, but it's nothing we can't overcome.

I'd venture that with Walsh and Koeman looking for targets, there's always the distinct possibility that we will have the opportunity to snap up a talent that others don't see for bargain money.

Now, I'd like to have a few marquee £30m signings come through the door, but if that can't be done, then there we go.

I trust that Walsh and Koeman can deliver, but it may take a little time. It's very frustrating, but if we can just get another 2 signings in this week, I reckon we have sufficient quality. Maybe not depth yet, but good quality.

It smells like agents and clubs are saying "It's newly rich Everton that are interested - lets screw them for everything they have" - Cue deadline day mayhem when push comes to shove.

It looks like Ghezzal never had any intention of leaving Lyon, he was threatening to leave as they wouldn't give in to his wage demands however it appears to have backfired.

You do understand, given our recent history, current lack of European football, how football actually works?

Or are you just here to shout nonsense about ...

Bit of a dramatic over reaction

Definitely proven difficult isn't it?
Seems to be that way for all but 3 in England to get their big name targets.

It does seem to be a strange year. Chelsea have been chasing Koulibaly for weeks without success plus they have only managed to bring in Kante. Arsenal got rejected by Vardy and are struggling to get 'value' as Wenger would say. Spurs still cant get the N'Koulou deal wrapped up and have only signed Wanyama and Janssen.

Mourinho done well getting Bailly in early as looking at the market now, Villareal probaby would have held out for more.
