meh, i wasn't expecting us to land anything major this summer, just got my hopes up after it seemed top players were genuinely interested (still a week left and none of those players have chosen a different team, it must be stated). I think someone like mata, could still be done in january if he has limited playing time at united, so not all doom and gloom.

But it's fine, a couple of years of good results and then we'll be able to attract them, we have to sell ourselves to them because of results on the pitch and i think we can do that pretty sharpish given the lack of quality in this league now.

I think this one may have to go down as a 'agree to disagree' mate.

Trust me mate I've grown up having had us win 1 trophy in my entire lifetime (I was two months old in May 95)

However, we are a big club. That really can't be debated.

We aren't a top calibre club anymore though.

Look at Villa, Forest, Leeds - big, big clubs. Crap, but big.

I can see us ending up getting Hart. TDD no doubt. He just has nowhere else to turn other than warming the Citteh bench most of the season, and thereby seeing his England chances evaporate.

Think Ghezzal has set himself up for the Arse. Again nowhere else to go now - there's hardly a string of CL suitors banging his door down.

Lucas/Perez, maybe. He could have an impact here. But I'd guess it's either him or Gabbiadini (if our 'bid' is real) - doubt we'd get both.

Mata... I dunno, I just have a hunch on this one. If Mourinho doesn't want him, he still won't let him go till the last day - competitive advantage and all that.

Think it is perspective though. would a decent player sign for forest or leeds now as they are a big club?

The modern perception is pretty much we are just a club. We sometimes do well, sometimes don't. We are just there, hence why we have found it difficult to attract players because they don't know which version they are getting when they sign.
