Everton Transfer Thread 2016

It would seem Everton is about to sign Brahimi, here's the problem with the African Messi:

1- He can't cross.
Really, he can't. Oporto has history with good wingers with usefull crossing ability (Quaresma, Drulovic, Hulk, J.Rodriguez, etc), while he's terrific 1 on 1, whenever he wins the line, his crosses will be weak or go straight to the defenders.

2- He takes his dribbles too far and lose the ball.
So he can't cross, and worse than that, he will keep trying to drible the entire defense and losing the ball. Don't be fooled with YT videos, most of his challenges are against weaker sides.

3- He's not a team player
He wont help defend much, he will lose the ball trying to do one of his tricks leaving his team off-guard.

4- His shot is weak.

Yet he is an amazing trickster with the ball and is able to do amazing things but that's not enough in competitive play. Just look at his stats last seasons:
15/16 - 7G 8A (Layun arrived from watford and has 5G 15A in the same period)
14/15 - 7G 6A
Don't get me wrong, he can do amazing things, but what's the point a player to be outstanding 1 every 10 games?

Hope you skip this guy, but at the same time, hope someone takes him from Oporto.
Basically what I said. He's a show pony and it looks like we might be getting rid of Deulofeu to make space for him. A player that does actually create chances.

Ross, Bolasie and Brahimi. Rom must be thinking oh my god I'll be lucky to get 10 goals this season.

I don't think the work of doing 4 or 5 signings is an issue in itself, if players became available and RK feels we needed that many, then we would do business on that level I think.

The issue is more all the pieces falling into place on each deal to make that number of signings more of a likelihood than not. Each transfer is unique and has its own complications.

It could be anything between 2 and 5 signings I think, a striker and someone to play behind the striker would be my absolute priorities and we have to make signings there for me.

With the form of Stek and Holgate, RK may decide to forego signings in those areas, and review in January, though I hope not, and would not expect decisions to be taken on the basis of 3 league games alone, as good as some of the individual performances have been.

If I was a betting man, I would plump for 3 signings, would be surprised if everything fell into place to sign more than that.

The excitement will lie in the relative suddenness of the surprise signing from nowhere, we just have to see what happens.

Do good business and we can bask in our excellent start to the league, and the newness of everything, with more new signings added to the mix.

This chap as @The Mighty Quint has said is 'no joke'.

If Deulofeu is 'the Assister' (Trademark Lukaku) then Brahimi is 'the Dribbler'. Was brilliant at Porto but it seems like he knows hes too good for that league.

If we had Brahimi, Deulofeu, Mirallas and Bolasie for the wings then thats quite a selection. Lennon and McGeady sold.
I thought Bolasie was the dribbler. If Brahimi comes then it will be him and Bolasie. Koeman isn't going to buy two 30m wingers and not play them.

We don't need a dribbler anyway. We need a play maker. Someone who can dictate the play in the final 3rd and make the key pass that leads to the goal. Away from home or against the top teams we already have a first 11 that is perfectly acceptable to play on the counter. Just like previous seasons it's our home games we should be worried about. Under Martinez we needed to throw the kitchen sink at them to get goals because we had no guile and it left us open. Under Koeman we keep it tight and fail to make really good chances. We are a blunt weapon.

No chance of Clev going unless we get a 10m offer,

the only outs i can see are hopefully Niase Kone Gibson and it seems McCarthy could be a shock exit.

Koeman was pretty clear yesterday that McCarthy stays, and he's not looking to let squad members go. Gibson just signed a new longterm contract the other week, for godsake. The only outs we may see are those who've not been assigned squad numbers, the likes of Niasse and McGeady.

I'm really interested in what went wrong with the Mata & Witsel deals.

I have read, with interest, @The Esk writing about Everton's financial situation and completely trust his info on this is true and quite accurate. I also believe he genuinely trusted whoever his sources are when he was told we had a serious interest in both above-mentioned players. However, it's clear as day that we were never actually - in real life - close to signing either. Which leads me to ask the question: How come you were so confident they were signing, even going as far as to say it had all been agreed on both counts?

This isn't an attack on our moderator; I am just interested in how it seemingly went from "we're 100% signing them" to us signing neither and no proof anything had ever been agreed in the first place.

Fingers crossed we can get rid of a handful and sign a couple of good players before the deadline - if we want to jump up the table we badly need it..

Brilliant to think about having the next Southall for fifteen years etc, but right now would settle for having a martyn, someone top drawer for 2-3 seasons - think we may actually have managed that with stek, can't remember any keeper starting so well for us ...

Goes to show ultimately the futility of all our transfer threads when both keeper and rb had loads banging on about us needing them urgently, and it turns out one signing for 500k, and one lad promoted from the under 21s looks to have solved those areas...
3 games. 2 against pretty poor teams. It's far too early to judge.

Witsel wanted juve and Mata is currently starting games for Utd. That explain it?

I expect 2 in. One will be a surprisingly good signing and the other a lesser name.

I'd just like us to start loaning everyone and Sutton back and listen to wenger moan

Hahahaha....imagine getting 4 BOSS loans in and nothing else.

The MOSH related minge-bag meltdown on here would be utterly spectacular...;)

Gibson was given a contract so we could get a price for him, no way on earth will he be anywere near the first team when Koeman has finished doing his business.
As for McCarthy if it's true he wants out and we bring a midfielder in don't be shocked to see him go.
