Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Agreed. I'd spend the lot on a keeper though. A top class one can win you 15+ points a season. Ours I feel has cost us at least 10 up to now.
Father In law is a united fan. He doesn't watch hardly any Everton games but I was talking to him about our defence leaking another 3 goals at Chelsea. He said if any of our defence was put up for sale with the possible exception of jagielka (due to age not ability) most of the top clubs would want them. So he said it can only be one thing....your keeper. Funny how he and Everton fans recognise this but not our manager. Whatever transfer funds we have in summer, this should be a no. 1 priority.

We'd be comfortably in the top 5 with a world class keeper.

We'd be comfortably top 5 with Robles. We'd be top 2 with a world class keeper.
A world class keeper won't solve the problem of allowing more than 5 shots on target per match. We're leaky defensively -- too many players just switching off at the wrong time. Put De Gea in our squad and we'd certainly be a lot better, but it's a big stretch to say we'd be top 2. The top defensive teams in the league start by not giving up lots of shots, and then generally have a great goalkeeper who doesn't make mistakes on top of that. We don't do either of those things.

It's crazy when you think about it - Stones £40-50m, Lukaku £65m, Barkley £50m+... and that's before you even consider how much Deulofeu is going to be worth in 12-18 months.

In terms of valuation, we have one of the most expensive first teams in the country FFS.

Yet it's let down by a keeper that probably has a negative transfer value.

Funes Mori, an Argentina international and scorer of goals will be worth more than double what we paid for him soon, especially if he learns a few of Stones' cool moves. The
last decent scorer we had, Lescott, fetched 25 mil or so. Plus he jumps into the fans when he scores, adding a few extra million for cult hero-ability. And, if it turns out he roars his national anthem out with great gusto, that should add a few extra David Luiz style millions on. So currently around 31 million and rising
