Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Remember when Rooney left and we replaced him with Marcus bent.

The world didn't cave in

Yeah but nobody expected the world to cave in -- they expected Rooney to go on to win a whole bunch of stuff while Everton wouldn't win a GD thing for the next decade (apologies to MLS pre-season Cup) despite nurturing such a tremendous talent. And that's exactly what happened. The one fluke 4th season is, in retrospect, kinda worthless. Enjoyed it at the time though.

I didn't expect us to get relegated. I just understood a club like Everton cannot buy an (in prime) Wayne Rooney. Or Rom. Or Stones. etc. We probably won't get relegated if we can't keep this group together but that mid-table label we have now is gonna stick unless we get lottery lucky.

Therein lies the source of all our discontent this season ... we've done this before; we know what's coming and many of us feel if these players slip through our fingers then we're doomed to Newcastle level at best. Money? Is money the problem with Yarm? Maybe ... we don't really know ... but it doesn't look like money has been our issue lately. We've lost players to teams lately despite having the money (offering more money in one case).

So no, the world won't cave in ... but, put it this way, if we make it to Wembley I wouldn't miss it because I think "we'll be back soon."

meant to ask you before when you mentioned covering games, but who are you working for if you dont mind saying?

Have met a couple of guys here doing commentary for random foreign tv on spanish football or general reporting for papers back in England.

It's a big company called Omnisport mate. They own a lot of sites/they have a massive client feed. So it's most often Goal, but the articles/reports etc often get syndicated out around the globe as well

I think ive met a mackem a couple of times here that works for them.

Possibly mate, they're a huge company. Goal are kind of their own thing and are a different part of the company - but the vast majority of their match reports and news articles (that you will often find elsewhere on different sites as it is a wire service) are written by Omnisport, while the guys who work solely at Goal write the features, transfer rumours etc...

Thats the problem, no-one will take him for nothing hahahaha.

His wages have scared off a few clubs, would hate to know the exact figure he was earning to be utter bollocks.

He's not on as high a wage as is rumoured although still considerably high. I think it's about 40K.

We are at the moment though trying to get someone to pay his full wage as well as pay us a fee for taking him.

I expect the fee to be waived soon and he'll go on loan then.

I'm not willing to make any predictions yet. There is still far too much time left in the window, even though it doesn't feel like it. Whatever happens come February 1, nothing will shock me.

Phil Neville comes out of retirement to sure up our defense?

Nothing major mate, I really wouldn't worry.

McGeady out I think will happen, Gibson may be another matter. 1 in - no idea who it will be though.
