Who's caicedo ? Never heard of him
We have Lukaku up front, staying forever ir leaving whenever we can get a lot of money for him. If we want a replacement of similar quality who we know can play in the premier league then Harry Kane is the benchmark....so of course not happening.
We can then either sign someone playing in another league whose 27 and at their peak with no resale value who is in one of the top two sides scoring goals for fun against smaller clubs AND internationally scored against tiny countries
OR
We go for someone who can reach the same level as Lukaku (hopefully) and maybe even surpass it for a similar price.
This chap or Breel Embolo for example.
With Rom as starter we can bring in Embolo gradually giving him time to adapt and have serious competition for lukaku whilst also giving him a rest as well.
@bluestevon we need a player like Yarmolenko of course but also need top quality to compete with Lukaku. The age is important as well as we see with Lukaku £28mil becomes £60+mil.....Embolo could be £20+ mil but also rise due to age and potential....need this conveyor belt to be able to compete with teams spending hundreds of millions on proven talent.

'No re-sale value'.When did 27 become old?!?!?
Yes we should be bothered what we can get back. Re-sale value is hugely important for a club like us.Why bring re-sale into it. If we buy a player, we shouldn't immediately be bothered about what we can get back. Slimani is a good player. His age is irrelevant, and he's not old anyway.
Then again, the whole discussion is moot as we won't sign him anyway.
What about Patrick Bamford?
It isn't, but he will be by the time we've had two or three good seasons out of him and he then starts to do a Kone. When did 27 become old?!?!?

It's ok for Chelsea or City to buy the finished article at 27/28, get 3 top years out of them and then bin them off for peanuts and just spunk multi millions on another in their prime to replace them.
We can't exactly do that can we? For all the stick Zat gets about the age thing, he makes very relevant points.
We'll get 50 million plus out of Lukaku, probably double our investment. Do you think we'd get that if he was 28/29?
Of course not. Unless we get taken over by people with money to burn it's incredibly short sighted to think re-sale value to a club like us isn't important.
What about Patrick Bamford?
Re-sale value is another phrase that was un-heard of 10 years back mate, heck, even 6 or 7 years ago.
Of course it's important, but fans seem to stress over it. If we sign a player, my first thought is never what we can get back for them when we sell them...
Have to disagree there he is 9/10 spot on. I don't know if he gets his information from another Twitter page like but he posts legit news hours or days in advance of papers reportingAgent edward is some 18 year old virgin who spends his days chatting bubbles online outve his mars back bedroom
It would be nice not to think like that I agree, but we simply have to.Re-sale value is another phrase that was un-heard of 10 years back mate, heck, even 6 or 7 years ago.

I think it's all about balance, to much focus on resale and you end up like villa, where majority of players bought in the summer have potential but they don't have the quality needed to compete now, on the plus side when they go down jack grealish on the cheap could be have a good resale value! It would be nice not to think like that I agree, but we simply have to.
The current board have have actually put up very little for player transfers. Even in the Moyes days we had to sell to buy and Martinez (although he's had a little more than Moyes) has had to do the same.
Lukaku and McCarthy his biggest buys, were mostly funded by the sales of Fellaini Jelavic and Anichebe.
When our key players get past their sell by date and their influence in our team diminishes, do you trust them to put up 20 odd million on quality replacements with recouping any through sales?
Pienaar and Jags have been very important to us over the years, but they're now approaching mid thirties and need replacing. How much could we sell the pair for?
Virtually zero. Any replacements will have to be covered by the board.
Stones on the other hand, like Lukaku, was brought as a very promising youngster with huge potential.
We're now talking upwards of 40 million if he were to be sold, that not only could buy a replacement, but buy quality in another couple of positions too.
Not every young player is a success on the scale of these two though I accept they're a rarity, but for a club that's not flush with money, it's actually common sense to invest in talented younger players with re-sale value.
That doesn't mean every signing should be south of 25 either though.
