Everton Transfer Thread 2016

IMO, he's decent, but in no way better than Coleman.

He plays in a team that literally stroll the league. To say he's 'won trophies' is a bit of a kop-out...

ivory coast won their first cup of nations since 1992. in the final he scored the third penalty in the shootout after the first two takers had missed. is that a kop-out?

is PSG expected to win every cup competition, every year for infinity?

No, of course not.

And no, it's not a kop-out on that front, fair play.

IMO, he wouldn't be a good signing for us, as he is no better than Coleman (and in fact I don't think he is anywhere near as good defensively). He all too often gets caught out by really poor opposition in Ligue 1.

I also don't like the fact he clearly has issues with his attitude - and it's not like he hasn't been a first-team regular either this season.

He in no way discourages players dribbling with the ball...

Plus, Pep has changed his style a lot at Bayern, as he's had more physical players than he did at Barca.

It's why he's proven himself as such a good manager. The Bundesliga was the perfect stepping stone for him between La Liga and the Prem. Pep's City team, if it is to be successful, will be very very different to his Barca one.

Barkley would certainly fit into Pep's style.
Did I say that? I said midfielders, or anyone when the ball is in the middle of the pitch.

He'd hate seeing Barkley pick up the ball, turn and run instead of just passing it.

Wasn't long ago that PSG were festering at the foot of Ligue 1 like the Parisian turd they are. Tons of money recently has changed that. Won't last forever, their dominance.

Not that I want him but I think you would find your attitude would start to suffer having to interact so closely with Ibrahimovic all the time.

Sorry I meant to put midfielders, thought I had done.

But no, he wouldn't hate it, as, like I pointed out his style has adapted at Bayern and will have to adapt further in the prem. It's what makes him the manager he is.

Him and Ibrahimovic are very friendly with each other... but he had issues before, when he was at Toulouse I believe, though he may have just moved to PSG.

And? He's adapted but even at Bayern, he plays the midfielders that play it simple in the first 2 1/3s of the pitch.

----Alonso
Thiago - Vidal.

Barely plays Gotze who likes to dribble with the ball.

Apparently he feels Blanc is VERY friendly with Ibrahimovic ...

He thinks they're bumming

He has no history of it at all you horror

You take that back.

@BlueToff @FTY

i think Stones would be a primary target for Pep and despite what @orly says i think Cleverley as well.

Reason being Stones is the ball playing centre back he would want in his system, it is of course equally important for Martinez system too. I think Stones will stay with us though but if not will be between City and Barca. Not sure Real or Chelsea would bit enough for him. Id be looking at opening bids of £60mil and actually closing off at £75mil ish but expect Barca to offer players plus cash which may even suit us better if we can get the right players.

Cleverley would be ideal for Pep as well, very good technically and keeps the ball well. I think he would be an ideal signing for them actually as a utility player.

Key point for these two also is that they are also English of course and City will need to fill ther quota especially with their failure with Delph and others so far.

Barkley is Englands "jewel in the crown" and other than Dele Alli will be the national superstar over the next tournaments. City will want to have this type of high profile player in their team and also im confident he can adapt to whatever role Pep would want him to play.

Hopefully though all are not for sale and we get Barkley on an extended contract.

With Barca, Martinez managed to get Deulofeu from them and clearly has a strong relationship there. However there doesnt seem to be many great young players coming through other than the guys stuck in their B team who perhaps arent good enough for us?

Perhaps @bicycleheader could share some input here as i think hes a fan?

Gotze, when he plays, plays out on the wing - and he's a completely different player to Barkley.

Alonso is the experienced head who keeps things ticking over.

But i'd advise that you should maybe watch a bit more of Thiago and Vidal if you think they're players that in anyway 'keep it simple'.

Barkley is showing this season that, yes, while he can still turn on the ball and break at pace (his main asset is his ability to turn away from a man with such ease), he's more than capable of playing that simple pass.

Unfortunately, on some occasions, that gets the home crowd frustrated at Everton.

Pep wouldn't be adverse to Barkley at all though. Whether he would want to spend £40m+ on him is a different matter, obviously.

Plus he isn't going anywhere yet so it's all moot really.
