Why do we need Yarmolenko? We already have 3 good options on the right. Surely we need someone who can play on the left? Like a young(er) version of Stevie P.

What we absolutely need:
- a top goalkeeper who has the ability to be our first choice (Begovic, Horn, Ospina???)
- a young central midfielder - Gibson replacement (Henriksen, Nordtveit, Powell???)
- a top creative attacking midfielder who can play as a left winger (Bernard, Rafael Silva, Yarmolenko???)

What we might need as well:
- a right back backup - Mattioni/Pennington/Browning/Kenny may be ready
- another centre back - unless Galloway/Holgate may be ready
- another striker - unless Tarashaj is our new third choice striker and Rodriguez is ready to help too

Who needs to go:
Howard, Hibbert, Gibson, McGeady, Osman, Pienaar, Kone

If we did sign Yarmolenko then id assume he would be competing with Niasse on the left side and then Niasse competing with Lukaku up top.

Good signing for the squad numbers and also positive thst Niasse can cover a couple of positions too.

He is though the longest running saga since Fernandes and Moutinho.

Bernard no...Bernardo Silva yes :) would be perfect for us as a central playmaker option.

Also thst kid at Porto could potentially do barrys role...

Thoughts on Yarmo:

  • He's very, very lazy. Never tracks back to help defend (which he simply cannot do anyway), seems to walk basically all the time when he doesn't have the ball, and despite his height he doesn't seem to be strong in the air. He's just as lazy, if not lazier than Lukaku.
  • He's an absolute tank. Has some decent muscles, superb pace, and he can glide through defenders like butter. If we want someone we can bring on if we need to completely unlock a defense, he's our guy. He is very, very good on the attack.
  • His set pieces look promising. Whipped in a great left-footer and got on the end of his own FK. Almost scored too were it not for Hart. His one corner was decent.
  • He can cross pretty damn well with his weaker right foot. Must be outstanding on his left although I've not seen him cross with his left yet.
He's basically a left-footed Deulofeu on steroids. Now I'd be damn happy if we had a player like that.

Rushed back from a knee injury to play - the general reports before the game was he wouldn't make it - but the player seems to have pushed to start with the importance of the game for Kiev, generally whilst not a great defensive player he does do his part defensively and shows a fair bit more energy than he showed against City - guessing he's basically been 80% at tops last night (reports from the better Ukraine media had him about 7-10 days off being fully fit)

As for his left foot and crossing - it's very very good, even from the right he does those weird deep crosses with it frequently and they are pure sex to watch

Imagine the squad we have now with both Mustafi and Dier as part of it for young talent?

Been very very impressed every time I've seen Dier for Spurs

Every club though has those near misses on players that they must wish they could go back in time with - wasn't Baines for example once on trial at the rs?

He have been, to be fair these players at like 15/16 are a bit different to actually signing them and letting them rot in the reserves ala Moyes with these two lol It is a shame Moyes never bothered with youth whilst he was here, granted he couldn't have been moyes if he did but still, makes this new way of youth development great to watch.

Aye then again mate, and mainly got me thinking from FTY posting Torres picture, the lad looks brilliant yet because of the manager Simeone he is hardly getting a chance as he isn't the right 'type' of player and the likelihood is that in a year or two he will not be at Madrid and will go on to look some player at another club, and Simeone for example is one of the most highly touted managers and Torres a highly touted player, sometimes the face/style of player just doesn't fit with the manager in charge.

Guess in the future it's those type of scenarios that a team like us needs to be constantly on the ball with to try make sure we don't lose anyone and we snap up those who for one reason or another don't get a chance at other teams

That can happen yeah, happening right here with Mirallas so it is one of those unfortunate situations at times.

but it depends on whether the manager is being a success though whilst they are doing it. If simeone was struggling then i'm sure the likes of torres would be getting called to be more involved with the team as it would then be viewed as 'wasting talent', but if the manager is doing well they may as well be walking on water with the team haha i mean would we complain if tony pulis had us top of the league now with 10 centre halves on the pitch?
