Everton Transfer Thread 2016

......big challenge for RM if he is given a healthier transfer kitty to spend. It's a big difference being accountable for high value signings, although the signs are good if we consider Lukaku.

Let's just say there is a strong Irish connection at Sunderland and because of that I know how highly he's rated, I saw his senior debut vs Spurs - he was superb. I kept an eye on him on loan at Bradford, I've seen him play for English underage side, but I would be lying if I said I stayed for the whole games.

They won't consider selling - unless they go down.

Fair enough lad, just really dislike people mentioning people when they aint ever watched them kick a ball, but it appears as tho you have at least had a look at the lad.

There aren't many position in the team we could improve on, I think the ability to bring in pure quality - say a quality playmaker instead of Ossie on the bench and a Jordan Pickford instead of Howard and we would be doing well.

His kicking is sublime btw, he's a real throw back. He is very authoritve in the penalty box as well and isn't afraid to come for a cross - he has a really high broad skill set across the board for a keeper.

Sounds ideal, but as stated, it all depends on Robles, early doors on that respect, I have some doubts, but we should give the lad the next few months and by then im sure we will have a better picture, if hes the 1, well we then need an older back up who is happy to sit on the bench, this Pickford strikes me as somebody that would be better served out on loan or EVEN number 1, wouldnt wanna sit the lad on a bench.

See I think the compitition is important, I think Joel will grow in stature as time goes by and I like him, whether he can do it week in week out needs to be determined. So I'd have no problem brining Pickford and let them fight it out.

The keeper position at Everton is very specialist in comparison to other clubs, there will be times our team will be on top and there is little to be done - bar the occasional chances in a game so concentration is a must. In other games against the CL team we could be well under the kosh, so the ability to stand strong in a barrage is equally important.

Everton have started planning for the era under new owner Farhad Moshiri by targeting Villarreal teenager Alfonso Pedraza for a summer move.

Alfonso is a 19-year-old winger who has just broken into the first team at El Madrigal, having starred for Villarreal’s second team as well as Spain Under-19s. That Spain team won the European Under-19s Championship in Greece last year, bringing Alfonso and others to the attention of Europe’s biggest clubs. His team-mate Mikel Merino agreed a move from Osasuna to Borussia Dortmund last month.

Alfonso is a powerful, direct left-winger who is thought to be well suited to a move to the Premier League. He has impressed for Villarreal B in the Premier League International Cup, helping his side through to the semi-finals, where they will face Porto. He would probably cost Everton, who travel to Aston Villa on Tuesday evening, roughly £2m.

Martinez welcomes billionaire Everton investor Farhad Moshiri

Roberto Martinez said that the Moshiri investment would allow Everton to be far more ambitious. “We have to show we are ready to take the club to the next level,” the Everton manager said. “When I started at Everton our ambition was to look at the Champions League positions. The investment from Farhad Moshiri will take us to a different level in terms of being able to get there. It can accelerate the process.”

Martinez’s opposite number at Villa Park this evening, Rémi Garde, admitted that his side’s desperate plight was giving him sleepless nights. Garde has been unable to revive Villa’s fortunes since replacing Tim Sherwood as manager in November, winning just two Premier League matches.

“I am not sleeping very well, as you can guess,” said Garde. “I never relax, I am always watching football into the night. I am fully focused on that. I will try to analyse what I need to do, what I can change. I try to do my best in my position but it is difficult.”

I had this conversation in work today ha. Lad on my team said the same thing as you. My answer was our league position would say otherwise

I saw his debut against Spurs. Think Spurs scored 4 but easily could have been 10 that day. Great potential, but to be our no.1 we need someone with more experience. Would be a great signing as a no.2 to bed in for a couple of years though.

Nar, no hunger from the lad.

All those years ago he was a hungry player, with passion, now hes just happy to take the fat dollar bills in France and be a nobody.

He was perfect for us, Arteta and Moutinho would have won us the title, NEA.

you need a new hero!
